I woke up this morning thinking about this guy..Mr Claus. A lot of preparation ahead this month both in the shop and with my own work. It seems ridiculous considering how warm it is..autumn hints at the build up to the festive season normally.. Still feeling excited though!! Happy Wednesday all!!

Considering I’ve had a number of lovely new followers recently I’m going to dedicate this week to introducing myself and my work. Today - just me! I was born by the sea on the South coast of England in a town (as it was then) called Brighton. I grew up just outside in a beautiful village called Firle. Drawing was always a big part of my life because my dad always had a pencil and sketchbook in his hand…even at a very early age we drew together. He taught me how to use a dip pen which later on would be one of the tools of my trade! I went off to study for a degree in Illustration at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge. It was an incredible course. We were there all day every day, life drawing was always there if we needed it .. the commercial aspect of it really prepared me for life as an illustrator after graduating. But my heart was always by the sea, so I packed my bags and headed back down south. And, apart from almost 4 years in Sydney ( which I’ll come to later in the week) I’ve lived in Brighton ever since! I’m obsessed with 1940’s style and an avid collector of many beautiful things! Oh and I love running! More to come tomorrow…

Jumping back in by celebrating 18 years of Evie Wonder. My beautiful girl .. there is so much ahead for you to celebrate, you are on such a journey of self discovery. Over the past year I’ve watched you battle on through some very tough times and I’m so very proud of you. Plus you will always be the best character to illustrate 😘 x

Oh 2024.. what can I say? I could say I suppose that you were one of the greatest tests my kids and I have had for a long while! Starting the year with the news that we had a few months to find a new home after 9 years renting the same home… the desperation when there was barely anything to view..the cost of it all, not only financially but to our physical and mental health..then my accident..broken ribs and a very bruised ego…my illustration had to be put in one side whilst I regrouped. Understanding neurodivergence in our little team of 3..trying to be a single mother hen, knowing how my kids had lost their beloved home and the security it gave them. But I’ve ended the year feeling gratitude. For the family and friends who have been there through all the chaos. For my kids who are my rocks. As we set sail into 2025..thankyou ❤️🙏🏻 by @leonieshearing

Life is pretty non stop at the moment but with the help of a friend (thankyou @sarahhodges777 ) I got to see the most incredible, inspiring and very emotional exhibition by the wonderful @sophieabbottartist. It opened my eyes to colour again! The boy was very impressed too!!

Last week I took my sis off for a belated birthday present to a town that has always been a sabbatical. Hastings and St Leonards are brimming with new shops, galleries and cafes. I’m drawing again and this has given me a huge amount of inspiration, plus I got to hang out with a wonderful person!
The Quentin Blake exhibition is definitely worth seeing @_art_on_sea and we always pay a visit to @a_g_hendy_co_homestore Can’t wait to go back as soon as possible!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mums❤️I’m currently knee deep in boxes as we have to move in a few days time. So can’t add much more apart from hugs to those like myself who can’t spend the day with their own mums any more. I miss her hugely but she’s be nudging me on saying “you’re almost there!”
