Prompt - My reflection blinked first @wild_ink_and_sunflowers Some truths only appear when we question the lens… Not written in the stars, but written in your scars. Trace back a thousand lines through their lies, through the lack, through your life. Potential limited, possibilities buried. A grave scene greets your eyes. Digging deep, you unearth your strength, you release your sight, you realise the illusion from lenses placed before your eyes. My reflection blinked first. Their decree of deceit descends to scatter the vision of your soul, always reflecting their desires. Always refracting your truth? Never! We learn to see ourselves through what we have been shown, through expectations, absences and stories repeated so many times that they start to resemble the truth. So, “becoming” is an excavation. Prompt - I don’t remember inviting her @poeticreveries How much of who we become arrives without being invited? Still full of her, following years of formation, though I don’t remember inviting her in. Phonemes frantically fell from my lips, pretending to be mine. Mutely, I watched on, noticing the innumerable things resembling me, but mirroring her. As I became diluted, more watery in pallor, pretending, going with the flow, I fell into the depths of disparaging doubt and docile demeanour. Drowning in duty, I was swept away in the deluge of everything else, Still anchored by her, unable to avoid any longer, I chose to cling to my whispers, climb out, still clutching at straws. Resuscitated, resolute and resilient, succumbing to my senses, I felt moments, relived fleeting memories. My horizon held remnants still full of me. Sometimes we become fluent in voices we never choose. Gradually, we mistake their language for ours. I’m honoured to share that my work has been published in Poetries in English magazine. Knowing that only around 1% of submissions are accepted makes this recognition especially meaningful. Writing begins in such a private space. So, to have these words chosen, given a home, and shared with readers around the world, is something I’m deeply grateful for. My sincere thanks to the editors, and especially Sterling, for seeing something in my work. Also, a huge appreciation for anyone who pauses to read it. So, if you would like to spend a little time with the published piece, you’ll find it below, or in the link in my bio with the other articles in this edition. What if memory began before you could remember….? Holding Cells Beyond the haze of history, beneath the language of the mind, a truer archive holds records written in texts deep within. Not in books, not in stories, but the script is stored, breathing life, pulsing and present. A remembered wisdom, here before you, that travels down lines, over unbroken bridges, to hearts that hold. Cells encoded by storms survived, seasons that spiral, continued in constant cycles. Your body revises lessons learned. Listen closely. In stillness, you’ll remember ancient courage, deep knowing. You are not beginning, but continuing the long remembering, passed through time. Now, you are the scribe. What will your inscription pass forward? Perhaps we carry more than stories, something quieter, older than explanation, presented without being remembered. Prompt- Shadows and Midnight @mpv_prompts @dsravenwrites Not every silence is peace…. Before all the pain, was silence. Not the absence of noise,just memories; not calmness, just quiet; not sanctuary, just a scared child always silent before speaking, preparing for after the calm, seeking solace on her solo voyage. Like shadows and midnight, she was so clear, so fervent on her journey, to be a pane, not reflect. not a pause, but a rest, Can she ? Finally?
