Just a middle-aged artist mom with an Instagram account, chasing curiosity one paper fragment (and one follower) at a time.

No grand strategy. No viral dreams. Just a quiet, stubborn commitment to showing up—and gluing things down. taken in Toronto, Ontario by @lesleyluceart

Why is there a banana in the artwork?
Who knows. But it felt right at the time.

Every piece I make comes with a handmade mini book, part archive, part decoder ring. It shows the fragments I used, where they came from, and why they ended up in the work.

Except the banana.
That one remains unexplained. Mysterious. Iconic. taken in Toronto, Ontario by @lesleyluceart

Captivating from afar, rewarding up close—my work is designed to spark curiosity. Each piece explores cultural memory and hidden histories through thousands of hand-placed paper fragments, arranged in intricate concentric circles. Every detail is intentional. Every layer tells part of the story. taken in Toronto, Ontario by @lesleyluceart

I have always supported public libraries. Financially, emotionally, and apparently through the extremely long-term borrowing of their materials.

Thirty-eight years feels less like “overdue” and more like “part of my personal archive.” by @lesleyluceart

I don’t think I miss Saturday morning cartoons 📺 as much as I miss knowing everyone else was watching them too 👯 👯 👯

That idea ended up inside Cached Memory, an artwork which is partly about what changed when childhood stopped being so synchronized. We gained endless choice, endless feeds, and endless ways to be entertained...but we lost some of those weird little cultural moments that belonged to almost everyone at once. by @lesleyluceart

Every artist needs a healthy relationship with letting go.... however, I DO NOT.

If an object has even the faintest possibility of becoming art someday, it has apparently earned permanent residency in my studio. by @lesleyluceart

Apparently one of the stranger parts of getting diagnosed with ADHD as an adult is realizing the clues were EVERYWHERE.

The little room. The magpie. The Puzzle Master. The research rabbit holes. The tiny repetitions.

Same brain, different interpretations.

I spent a long time trying to correct things that eventually became the exact way I now create art. by @lesleyluceart

My artwork inspired by Canadian literature, "Somewhere In the Stacks," includes a tiny homage to the three-legged fox from 🦆 Ducks: Two Years in the Oil Sands, @kate.beaton autobiographical comic about her time working in Alberta’s oil sands.

Because apparently “nice circles” was never going to be enough for me. by @lesleyluceart

I already gave fear twenty years. I’m not giving it the next twenty too.

I still overthink things. I still wonder if I’m doing any of this “right.” I’m just getting much better at making the thing anyway.

Apparently this is growth ✨ or destiny 🔮 hard to say 💫 taken in Toronto, Canada by @lesleyluceart

Very grateful. Very thankful. VERY normal about it. by @lesleyluceart

Some people throw things away. I prefer to give them a 15-to-20-year probationary period to determine whether they are art supplies. by @lesleyluceart
