There will be a BBQ and banner making workshop in preparation for the upcoming protest - we welcome people to BYO food to the BBQ if you so wish.

Lesnes Estate residents will be protesting at Bexley Civic Officers from 6.30pm on the 30th of April against Peabody’s regeneration.

Bring your signs and banners and join residents in saying no to Compulsory Purchase Orders in the fight to save their community from displacement and their homes from demolition!

📢 Lesnes Estate Update! 📢

Yesterday, residents went to the London Assembly Mayor’s Question Time to present their petition.

Residents were represented by Member of The London Assembly, Zoë Garbett (@zoegarbettgreen). After hearing the residents’ case, Sadiq Khan stated he would appoint the Deputy Mayor of Housing to look into the issues of neglect and degeneration that residents who have remained on the estate have been subjected to, as well as personally working with Zoë to help alleviate these circumstances.

Zoë also pushed for more consideration on vital safeguards to be put in place to protect residents from displacement, ensuring that they have a guaranteed home to return to once regeneration projects are completed and to ensure communities are protected.

Thank you to Zoë and also thank you to everyone who signed and shared the petition - we will continue to update you all on more progress to come!

📢 Sign and share our petition! 📢

Tomorrow, we will present our petition to Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London, to stop the demolition of the Lesnes Estate and save our homes.

The Lesnes Estate in Thamesmead is made up of a close predominantly minority ethnic working-class community and includes homeowners with freehold status who bought their homes under Right To Buy, which they were originally told would be an investment.

Now, they risk losing their homes to Peabody’s cruel regeneration which will result in the demolition of the estate and will displace a community who will be unable to afford to return to Peabody’s new development.

This Thursday, Lesnes residents will meet with Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London to present their petition to continue the fight to save their homes. This will then be presented to head of the Lesnes regeneration, John Lewis.

Join them at City Hall for the Mayor’s Question Time at 9.15am, ready to go through security at 10am, the address is:
