Courage is fear that has said its prayers.

Amazigh proverb

Presenting earrings with silver from India, Indonesia and North Africa seamless together.

The bulky beads are from the Amazigh, the nomadic Free People of North Africa. Where other people valued gold, they preferred silver. Gold was for the greedy, and it evoked envy and the Evil Eye. Silver on the other hand, stood for purity and light and a connection with the moon. From childhood on, girls collected silver jewelry until at their wedding day they wore all of it, kilo's of weight- their portable bank, and spiritual protection in one. They passed their jewels on to their children and valued the old beads most. Me too!

Simple earrings with lovely tiny old Amazigh beads and black onyx in my shop, 🔗 in bio.

The desert is a garden for the wise, a prison for the fool.
Tuareg proverb

Antique mediterranean coral earrings with carved shells from Mauritania (Tuareg) and fabulous Sri Lankan silver.

The desert sand almost speaks through these beads.

God said: "Start moving, so that I may start blessing".

Afghan proverb

Presenting a bracelet with a most lovely heirloom silver bead from Afghanistan. It is thin but good quality silver, probably made from melted colonial silver coins, and part of a dowry. The silver was skilfully etched and punched, and granules were added. The design is too sweet.
For more sweetness, I added a so called 'wedding cake' bead, made beginning 1900's in Venice, with copper flakes in the glass (so called aventurine - the effect was discovered 'par aventura', by chance) and pink roses and all.
Swipe through to see that little miracle.

So here you go, for a very blessed Sunday and start of the week.

The Red -blaze- is The Morning
The Violet -is Noon-

Emily Dickenson

Presenting deep reds in carnelian and jasper. Red jewelry has always been associated with courage and energy. Carnelian was popular with Roman soldiers for example.

I'm a fan myself. Wishing you a blazing start of the week.

The bracelet with the green beads is still available, dm for price.

A feeble effort will not fulfill the self.

Dogon proverb.

Presenting a bracelet with a magnificent granite stone from the Dogon - the tribe who in the 1400's, fleeing Ghana, settled on cliffs in the south of the Sahara desert. In this harsh environment, they kept their ancient culture.
Stones like the one in this bracelet are regarded as strong talismans. They are from Neolithic times, and were found in caves - from the people who inhabited the cliffs even before them: the Tellum.
Together with iron, these old stone beads are worn on necklaces by priests and elders. They should protect and establish a connection with the spirits.

I paired this great smooth bead with antique jet black proterobas beads (a stone that behaves like glass when heated) and wonderful carved shells from Mauritania, worn during the ecstatic Guedra dance.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend.

A gentle hand may lead an elephant by a single hair.

Afghan proverb

Presenting a bracelet with a most wonderful old silver bead from Afghanistan, that I found just yesterday. Typically these beads come in large sizes. This lovely small one has a very soft feel that cannot be captured in a picture. It goes great with the warm hues of the antique amber glass, the brown carved jade and the ancient carnelian.

Swipe through for a close up!

Go gentle today.

If you don’t have the heart of a lion,
Don’t go on the journey of love.

Afghan proverb

Presenting a bracelet with Afghan lapis lazuli, the stone that was used to make ultramarine, the expensive pigment used during the Renaissance. The stone was imported from far away mines, then crushed and made into paint. It was more expensive than gold, and used for the dress of the Virgin Mary.

Paired with an antique trade bead and tribal silver.

Wishing you a happy day.

... and precisely the tones in these bracelets. Now with summer ending and autumn approaching, a marvellous in between, and everything ripe, these are days for opulent jewelry.

Life is like a ballet, danced only once.

Proverb from Mali.

Presenting a bracelet with a treasure from Medieval Djenne, when it was a vibrant trade hub. Gold, salt and locally grown rice were traded here and great bronze art was made.
This bracelet has two large oxidized bronze links, probably once part of a necklace made up of these rings.
Paired with great old glass beads, a smooth centuries old granite stone and a very beautiful antique Afghan silver bead.

Not in my shop yet, dm for price.

Wishing you a great day.

The same water never runs into the same river.
Ethiopian proverb.

I love the mystery of the movements of ideas.
Here we have the idea of the world in constant flux - was it phrased this way before or after Heraclitus articulated it? Using the same image of the river.
How do these images travel?

Presenting a bunch of bracelets, one of them with Ethiopian Telsums (from 'talisman'), small amulets for protection.

Both bracelets available, 🔗in bio.
