Something I have come to realise over the years is just how lonely being a doctor can sometimes be.

Whether it is working nights or being on call, you quickly learn to become independent, make important decisions and figure things out as you progress through your career.

Between my busy NHS commitments and the additional work I pick up in the private sector, including 25-hour shifts like this one, there are sacrifices that come with it. Time with family, looking after my own health, studying, and sometimes just having a bit of time to switch off.

Somewhere along the way, you become so used to putting work first that you forget to check in with yourself. I suppose I am still figuring out how to look after myself while looking after everyone else.. and to be honest, I have NOT quite figured it out yet! 😵‍💫

Hey everyone! 👋🏻

I’m Sari, a British-born doctor of Lebanese origin, currently working my way through postgraduate medical training in London.. 👨🏻‍⚕️

I’m currently an IMT2, spending six months at Hillingdon Hospital completing a rotation in Geriatrics. Alongside my NHS training, I also work a private locum job at The London Clinic, where I serve as an Oncology RMO. Oncology is a particular passion of mine, and something I’d love to explore and share more of here! 💊

So, what can you expect from this page? A bit of everything really! From MRCP and PACES tips, revision resources and lessons I’ve picked up along the way, to navigating IMT, the realities of UK medical training, working in the NHS, and insights into Oncology. I’ll also share some of my experiences working across both NHS and private healthcare. This is my second attempt at giving Instagram a go (previously @mymedicaladventure), so hopefully I manage to stick around this time! 😬

I’m still figuring out exactly what direction I want to take this page, so I’d love to hear from you. What would you like me to talk about? Drop your suggestions in the comments. Always happy to share what I have learnt along the way! 👇🏼
