The kids were fighting. I was losing my shit. We had errands to run and absolutely nobody was regulating.😮‍💨

So I parked the car, turned the music ALL the way up, and we moved our bodies.

Music is one of our favorite ways to regulate around here. The best part? They follow my lead with this one🙏

And just like that, the energy shifts. The fighting melted into movement, the good beat took over, and we got back into our bodies and out of our heads.

Sometimes I need the reminder, that’s the medicine. 🤍

😮‍💨 Bare with me…

This is something I carry heavily in my heart as a solo mom raising a little boy. He is surrounded by women, which is such a beautiful blessing, but if I’m being honest, there are moments when it feels overwhelming.

I overthink it all. Do I know everything a little boy needs? Am I teaching him the right things? Am I preparing him for the world he’s going to grow up in? Am I messing this up?

And then I remind myself that I don’t have to know everything. I just have to keep learning, growing, listening, and becoming the parent he needs me to be.

Because I’m not just raising someone’s son. I’m raising someone’s future partner. Someone’s future father. Someone who will one day have the opportunity to make another person feel safe, respected, heard, and loved.

And I’m raising a daughter, too. I want her to grow up strong, resilient, smart, and fully aware of her worth. I want her to know how to recognize respect and how to give it. How to hold boundaries and how to honor someone else’s.

Because this isn’t about raising boys to be better than girls, or girls to be afraid of boys. It’s about raising humans who understand that no one is more entitled to respect, love, safety, or dignity than anyone else.

NO ONE is above accountability. NO ONE is owed access to another person. And NO ONE gets a pass because of their gender, status, or the culture around them.

Raising humans is not for the faint of heart. It’s one of the heaviest responsibilities I’ll ever carry, but also one of the greatest privileges of my life.

The world doesn’t need more people who simply know how to conform to it. It needs humans who know how to think, feel, listen, love, respect, and take accountability.

I do not pretend to have all the answers, but I’ll sure as hell keep asking the questions. I’ll keep learning. I’ll keep doing the work. Because they deserve the best shot at growing into good humans. The ones who see the world with hope, treat people with kindness, stand firmly in what’s right, and contribute something good to it. 🤍

On Wednesdays, we wear pink. 💗

A little pre-birthday fun for our beautiful Victoria because 34 never looked so damn good. 🥂✨

I think as we get older, we can get a little weird about birthdays. Maybe we don’t want to acknowledge the number, maybe we don’t love being the center of attention, or maybe we just forget to make a big deal out of ourselves… 🤭 okay maybe not that one 😉

But I always say let yourself be celebrated! Every year, every milestone, every excuse to gather with the people you love. 🤍

We attempted a Mean Girls movie night in the park, but between the three of us, we (heard) more iconic quotes than actually watched movie because let’s be honest, very little can interrupt the yap 😜

Life never really stops life-ing…

Money stress. Parenting. Navigating relationships. Keeping up with the daily needs on top of work, responsibilities, and an ADHD brain that has endless tabs open at all times. 😮‍💨

Some days I’m just trying to hold it all together.

And sometimes the only thing I can do is stop thinking. Get out of my head, get into my body, turn the music up, and let the beat take over.

No solving. No overthinking. No figuring it all out.

Just me and my girl, dancing in the sunset, remembering that I don’t have to have it all together to enjoy right now.✨
