Ironman 70.3 World Champs Marbella 🌴 Man that felt good ..I am extremely proud of this one! A year ago I fought extremely hard to bounce back from an unexpected and additional shoulder surgery to get this slot…from that day I stuck my head down for this day. As I’m sure everyone did, I hit many hurdles ..but after an extremely hard life lesson a couple of months ago followed by a very bad performance at a race… I’ve never been more determined to fix my mistakes! Nothing about Saturday was perfect - obviously you always want the perfect result. There’s so much I still need to improve on and learn but to take 14th in the world, fastest SA run, and second SA girl I don’t believe I could’ve asked for a better day! To my little gang that got me here, I cannot thank you enough! I took the phrase blood,sweat and tears to another level …sorry 😜 Further to that I got to stand on the sideline and support my hero, my dad! He successfully smashed his second world champs! As well as my bestie @matthewralphs absolutely crush his pro word champs! It’s so hard to put into words how proud I am of you boys! Huge well done to absolutely everyone who raced! It was brutal but so worth it 🙌🙌 I’m super excited to enjoy some down time and a little holiday! 🫶 by @lex_claasen

A dream way to end off what’s been a very difficult year 😭🫶 That took some sweat and some tears to get this one 🤣 Overall female win, SA Long Distance champ, first in age group and not too far behind the boys off the bike. I genuinely couldn’t be happier! 🥳 Anyone that’s raced this course at this time of the year knows that it’s absolutely brutal! For some reason I’m a sucker for it though! With a new course and SUPER tough conditions a massive well done to absolutely everyone who braved it out there 🙌 I cannot thank my support system enough, I spat out this idea last week as a semi joke but also not really and they went with the flow! I know how risky this line is coming back from 2 massive surgeries but I also believe that I know my body and I felt that I had one more in me. I don’t believe anything is possible without an army behind you and I certainly have one that’s for sure! ♥️ To absolutely all of you for making this possible THANK YOU A MILLION TIMES OVER ♥️ Thank you to @ultratriseries for always organizing great events 🫶 Time for some festivities before we refocus 🌲🎅 📸 A massive thank you to @run_inspire_ for the video 🤣 taken in Cradle of Humankind by @lex_claasen

Can someone pinch me please 😭 Sun City ultra overall female win … and my first big overall win 🥇 I’m struggling to put into words what this means to me but those around me know that this wasn’t really on the race calendar for me as I am currently waiting for shoulder surgery on my shoulder I damaged last year. The dates happened to work and so typical me I said to Travy let’s just add another race for fun before I have some forced time off ..I mean why not🤣 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’ve asked a lot of my body in the last couple weeks and so I really didn’t expect anything today..especially after the horror stories I’ve heard from this race 😂 I can confirm that nobody lied…the run is HORRIBLY hard! 🥵 There are so many people that made today possible and I cannot thank you enough! Firstly @travmaverickjohnston Travy, you deserve a medal for putting up with me 😜 thank you for everything, you’re always up to listen to whatever stupid suggestions I have 🤣 @cycle_nation this most certainly wouldn’t have been possible without you! Thank you for supporting my passion, I am truly so grateful! Absolutely everyone at @maverick.athletic for making all the early mornings worth it and all the love and support on and off the course! To @mattfranzsen for gluing me(literally) together to get through the day! To my poor dad and mom who get dragged out to stand in the sun all day and support me, I cannot put into words what it means to me 🤍 Lastly to the race organizers, thank you for organizing a fantastic event! Been a bit silent as this one has been a slightly hard pill to swallow. As athletes we always sit down at the beginning of the year and plan out our perfect season and it’s pretty obvious that nothing about my season has been perfect 🤣 After not giving my foot much chance after a Sandton drive tumble coming back into training post worlds it obviously wasn’t in the best condition and I managed to cause a completely new issue. Having another blow a while ago has been hard but the positive is that I’ve got an incredible team around me and I’ve got the best support to give my body the best possible chance to heal this and for that I just want to say a massive thank you! I’ve never been as grateful as I have been for my support system, this year has taught me a lot and that’s an incredible feeling! by @lex_claasen

What a day. What a weekend! 😭🤍 I think this is the race I am the most proud of to this day. Was it what I wanted a year ago? No. Was it one on paper I wanted? No. But was it what I wanted even 3 weeks ago. Hek yeah 🤩 To everyone that sacrificed their time to glue me back together in whatever way it was, thank you. That one was for you. It was a brutal, hot and mentally challenging day. A non wetsuit swim (not fun, nor not being able to see for the first 700m ☀️ 😂), an insanely cool bike course (especially when your mount breaks 10kms in and you have zero data to follow 😂- Soz Travy 😜) and the most packed and vibey run course of my life 🤩 I then got to stand on the sidelines to support my dad with my mom the next day. Both my dad and mom have stood by me through this journey and no amount of words can express how grateful I am to have them. Not many would standby a lunatic like me 🤣 Last year I set a goal for this year. NICE. In March this year I was diagnosed with a neurological condition that as a result of came many, many complications. Complications that none of my family, friends, coaches or team signed up for. Instead of backing down, changing the goal, changing the plans, we reassessed the goal and my team helped guide me through the pain, hospital stays, the split open chin, fractured ankle, concussion, the procedures to try help, the tears, the happiness and everything inbetween. After getting clearance, I jumped on the plane with a mountain of support! Landed in France, did the complications stop? No 🤣 my bike didn’t arrive 100% but some calm TLC from my dad it was good enough! I’m gonna respect my body and give it some well earned rest and then we’ll see what the future holds 😈 I hope this also explains why my phone use and ability to respond has been worse than usual 😂 For anyone that thinks they can’t, reassess your goal 🫶 The biggest well done to everyone who competed this weekend. We made it 🫶 Nothing else to say other than the biggest biggest thank you to the massive team that made this possible! Unfortunately tomorrow is more about the fun for me after navigating some serious health issues and some injuries as a result.
