Hi sapphic runners and walkers! ✨

It’s been over 4 months since Lez Run had their first run & walk, and I realized I never did an introduction. So, I’m doing one now!

My name is Michelle (she/her) and I started Lez Run in March 2026. ☺️

I moved to Columbus in September 2023 and slowly fell in love with running here (after hating it for YEARS lol). Over time, I felt like the running/walking community was missing a dedicated space for women, femmes, nonbinary and trans folks who identify as sapphic. While broader gay and queer spaces are valuable to our community, sapphic specific communities can foster deeper connections due to our shared experiences unique to a sapphic identity.

My dream for this group is for it to be a space that folks feel is safe to be their authentic selves and have a sense of belonging to. I have already been so blown away by the support of the community and how they continue to nurture a kind, gentle, and welcoming space.

Thank you @slammersbar for being so open to hosting Lez Run and for providing us a space to meet each week. 🫶

The DMs of this group are ALWAYS open to feedback, suggestions, or comments for improvement. This is my first time starting something like this, so I am certainly learning and growing as I go.

We want to be a safe and inclusive run club for ALL bodies and experience levels. To support this, we have three pace options for folks:

1. A group that runs at a 10:30/10:45 min/mi
2. A group that does a more relaxed run/walk mix
3. A group that walks

We always start as a group and end as a group. We hope you join us on our next run/walk!☺️

🔘Runners will complete a 3-mile loop down Spring Street to the Scioto River
🔘 Walkers will enjoy a 1-mile route down Long Street

Both groups will return to Slammers via Gay Street (because of course🏳️‍🌈) for drinks and social hour. We hope folks stick around after the run/walk to connect with the community!☺️

All gender identities in the sapphic community are welcome.

Few weeks ago, @lezruncbus held a shoe bedazzle event after their run to allow participants to add alil flair to their run/walk kicks. As unique as each design was, its a good reminder how unique everyone’s fitness journey is. The constant is that everyone’s unique journey belongs. Thank you @lezruncbus for continuing to foster community and creating spaces to allow all to be uniquely themselves. by @lezruncbus

National Coming Out Week (NCOW) is celebrated the week of October 11th to celebrate individuals living openly, combat stereotypes, and promote LGBTQ+ resources and visibility.

In honor of NCOW, we are hosting a special trans rights run/walk & social hour on Wednesday, October 14th @ 6:45 PM at @shapeshifter_cbus !🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

We’ll have prompts available post run/walk to send legislators and local races to support trans inclusivity. Swipe right for the walk and run route.

We’re cheering runners on for the Columbus Marathon on Sunday, October 18th! Meet at 8 AM at the corner of Bryden Road and 18th Street to support all of the incredible folks running the race. Bring signs, snacks, and anything you need to cheer. 🥳

I’m gonna try and bring donuts and coffee for everyone . ☕️🍩

We held our shoe decorating event last night, and it was awesome getting to see the personal flair folks added to their shoes.🤩 The sun set quick after the run/walk, so a few of us had to pull out our lights haha!

Hope the added charm increases your speed for your next run or walk!

Last Sunday we had our very first trail run + hike at Prairie Oaks Metro Park!🥾🌳 The weather that morning was absolutely beautiful. @kyky_xoxo_ even brought some yummy popsicle treats for folks to enjoy post activity.

We’re already planning our next one! Hope everyone has a great Labor Day weekend. ☺️

TINAR Race Series and Lez Run Columbus are teaming up for a giveaway to the Alley Trail Classic! TINAR Race Series is proud to support women and people of all genders in the outdoors, whether running, walking, hiking, or simply moving through space on the trail. The Alley Trail Classic features a beginner-friendly 5k (hikers encouraged!) and a challenging, multi-loop 28km trail run. The race is Sunday, November 15 in Lancaster, Ohio just 45 min south of Columbus. Runners can sign-up as male, female, or non-binary with awards for all three categories, per distance.
