If you’re new here, welcome.

I started LG Movement with a very clear vision: to build the kind of Pilates studio I’d always been searching for.

One where exceptional teaching comes first. Where clients leave understanding their bodies, not just sweating. Where small class sizes and thoughtful instruction are never compromised.

Since opening, the response has exceeded anything I could have imagined. Classes are released one month in advance and often fill quickly, and my private lesson waitlist is currently over six months long.

None of that happened by accident. It’s the result of a community that values curiosity, consistency, and investing in their health for the long term.

If you’ve recently found your way here, welcome. You’ve arrived at a pretty exciting time.

I’m so glad you’re here. 🤍 by @lg.movement

Pilates, in my eyes, is a beautifully preserved artifact.

A method created with so much thought, intention and interconnectedness that I don’t feel much desire to reinvent it. I feel more compelled to keep going back to it.

The deeper I get into Pilates, the less interested I am in asking, “What can I add?” and the more interested I am in asking, “What am I still missing?”

There is so much intelligence already there. In the order. In the apparatus. In the progression of the exercises. In the way one exercise teaches you something that suddenly appears somewhere else.

Of course teaching evolves. Bodies are different. Knowledge grows. But I think there is something really beautiful about allowing a method to remain recognizable.

My goal with LG Movement has never been to create my own version of Pilates.

It is to keep studying it, understanding it, and getting better at teaching what was already there. by @lg.movement

Well… the secret’s out.
LG Movement has officially been voted Best of DC for Pilates Studio by Modern Luxury DC.

To say I’m honored would be an understatement.

Just five months ago, I opened the doors to this studio with one goal: to create a place where people leave with more than just a workout. A place where movement is understood, not simply performed.

To think that, in just five months, a brand new studio run entirely by one instructor could receive this recognition is something I never imagined!

Every class taught.
Every private lesson.
Every email answered.
Every playlist made.
Every detail of this space has been built with intention.

Thank you to every client who trusted me early, believed in this vision, and voted for LG Movement. This recognition belongs to all of us.

I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built together.

And the best part?

We’re just getting started. 🤍

Before Pilates, my career was in professional dance and choreography. An injury changed the trajectory of that career, but it also completely reshaped my perspective on how we prepare young dancers for the demands of this industry.

This year, my goal was to bridge the gap between pre-professional training and professional preparation.

Working with the dancers of C-Unit Studio, and this dancer in particular, has given me the opportunity to bring that vision to life through Pilates, contemporary dance, education, and mentorship.

Because developing exceptional dancers is one thing. Preparing them for long, healthy, sustainable careers is another.

And that’s exactly why I created Movement Mentorship💫 by @lg.movement

Private lessons = time to dive deeper. 🧠

Everyone knows their glutes. But what about the six deep external rotators of the hip?

These little muscles play a HUGE role in hip stability, rotation, and control, yet they’re so often overlooked.

As a Pilates instructor, it’s not my job to be your physical therapist. But it IS my job to educate you.

Not every lesson needs to be an anatomy lecture (although clearly I have no problem pulling out a diagram mid-session 😂).

But Pilates should be more than following instructions. You should understand WHY you’re doing what you’re doing.

And to my fellow instructors, if these muscles aren’t familiar to you, it’s time to get cracking on that anatomy education! We can’t teach what we don’t understand ourselves.

The best instructors never stop being students.

Pilates is more than a workout. It’s an education. 🤍 by @lg.movement

Dancers are athletes. Train them accordingly.

Dance training demands an incredible amount of strength, coordination, mobility, and control. But developing those qualities requires more than repeating choreography and technique.

Henry is a pre-professional dancer with plans to pursue dance as a career. He trains Pilates with me once a week alongside his rigorous dance schedule.

When working with dancers at this level, my focus extends beyond improving their technique. We’re developing the strength, stability, mobility, and body awareness necessary to sustain a long, healthy career in an incredibly physically demanding field.

The goal isn’t to make dancers better at Pilates. It’s to give them the tools to become stronger, more capable dancers who understand how to care for their bodies throughout their careers.

Because preparing a dancer for a professional career means preparing their body for everything that career will demand of them✨ taken in Bethesda, Maryland by @lg.movement

The more I teach, the more I realize how much people are paying for fitness without necessarily receiving the instruction they deserve.

I’ve seen enough to know that sometimes the stabilizers simply ain’t stabilizing. 💀

If we’re paying premium prices for group fitness, I think it’s fair to expect premium instruction.

I’m talking education, experience, individual corrections, and thoughtful progression. Not just being told to straighten your elbows and move slower.

Especially if you’re supplementing another sport, returning from an injury, or working toward a specific goal.

The work you’re seeing here didn’t happen overnight. It’s the result of learning the fundamentals and progressing through a system, not just completing a challenging workout.

A beautiful studio is lovely, but who’s teaching you?

Premium pricing should come with premium instruction. taken in Bethesda, Maryland by @lg.movement

One thing I’ve learned about running a small business is that growth doesn’t always have to mean increasing capacity.

I’m incredibly grateful for the demand at LG Movement, and I’m always thinking about what comes next.

But I also believe in being intentional about how we grow, recognizing what’s working, and continuing to build on the standards that got us here✨💪🏼

My favorite cue: ROUND.

Not your head. Your spine.

There’s a difference between making a shape and understanding how to get there. And I will happily say “round” 100 times until we find it✨💪🏼 by @lg.movement

Funny enough, this isn’t even an original thought of mine. A friend said it to me, and it stuck.

I hear all the time, “My Pilates teacher used a cue they heard from you on Instagram,” “I’m going to use that,” or “You inspired me to build this.”

And to that I say: GOOD.

I love being around competent people. Friends, colleagues, teachers, mentors. People whose work makes me think differently and pushes me to get better at mine. I don’t find competition threatening. I welcome it.

The odds that any of us are truly reinventing the wheel are pretty slim. I’m influenced by people all the time, and I’m not afraid to say who they are.

That’s kind of the point.

Learn from people. Be inspired by them. Use the cue. Build on the idea. Let someone else’s work make yours better.

And when someone inspires you, give them their flowers💫👏🏻 taken in Bethesda, Maryland by @lg.movement
