Daughters of Patriarchy: A Wormhole Study

As a biological female form born into the patriarchal system that has prevailed on Earth for approximately five or six thousand years.
I am tired of this violent domination where humanity lost its caring for women and children, ancient social contract that has enslaved women for thousands of years. I now have comments, responses, and questions about what I have experienced and witnessed—as well as an urge to reimagine a real ground of hope for a matriarchal future.

This is one of the two paintings will be part of a group exhibition @notesfromdaughters curated by @leahelimeliah.

In this Young feature, Shuhan Zhang writes about Unfolding Roots, curated by Xinying Wang in New York. Moving through questions of memory, embodiment, femininity, queerness, and spirituality, Zhang considers how the practices of Orange Li and Sarah Davidson complicate fixed ideas of identity and origin. Through dreams, bodily experience, intuition, queer ecology, and the natural world, How Roots Grow approaches roots as fluid and relational—shaped through migration, encounter, transformation, and connection. The essay asks how identity continues to grow through the visible and invisible relationships that bind us to our bodies, other people, nature, and the past.
