At the beautiful time of dawn on
12th October 2023, rays of sun peeked through the horizon as I was finishing my practice. This was the exact moment when I was blessed by Guruji to teach. With his blessing, I will share the spiritual practice of Ashtanga Yoga in a traditional way that started in the city of Mysore, India by Shree. K Pattabi Jois (his grandfather).

Unfortunately, my blessing have been overshadowed by the horrific act of terrorism that took place in Israel. That very same night, I was woken up by my inner demons and insecurities. Despite being utterly heart broken, my spirit continues to land on my yoga mat every single day. In this same way, I understood my ‘Dharma’ in this material world.

This isn’t a coincidence that I am here at this specific time. I am pacified by the deep inner understanding that everything on this journey was guided me to this specific moment. That is to come to the realization that I must execute my Dharma : ‘to increase the good in the world’ and live by this mantra forever.

This is our daily inner battle, in the faces of deep sorrow. But I promise you, this journey can be comforting if we allow ourselves to pause, accept, and learn to look within ourselves with braveness and compassion.

‘Ashtanga Yoga’ is the way of life. It is not about one more asana, but it is about the rest of the seven limbs through which we are growing and learning about our true self.

The first step is most difficult. It is to look into this sorrow with the understanding that when we choose to ignore our real self, we allow other things to influence us in our decisions. Much of this influence is misguided by our ego, body and all the external factors.

It’s been several years that I have been travelling to India and back. And What a great opportunity to thank you, my Guruji. @sharathjoisr How you have guided me in my path in such a unique way with happiness in your eyes.
Thank you for the faith and the hard work.

Taking my practice with me is one of my favorite parts of traveling
#אשטנגהיוגה #ashtangalove #greece #yogapractice by @liadsom

As a mother…
most of my practices look like this.

Little hands climbing on me,
eyes searching for me,
bursts of laughter,
and pauses I never planned for.

I was so afraid for my practice before she arrived.
But today I understand…

this is the real practice.

To stay present even when the moment isn’t perfect.
To breathe through the lack of control.
To let go of the idea that everything has to look the way it once did.

And to remember that even now —
I still choose myself.

Ashtanga taught me discipline.
Motherhood is teaching me softness.

And somehow…
through all of this,
even though my body is not the same body
and the space around me has changed,
my practice has only deepened. 💜#אשטנגהיוגה #ashtangayoga #אשטנגהיוגהישראל #motherhood #momlife by @liadsom

we move, we play, we grow together
