Excited for all that’s to come and grateful for all the adventures I’ve been able to have so far 🥲

Photography has been an unbelievably important part of my life for a long time now, and I thought it was worth sharing a little about my background.

To those who don’t yet know me, I’m excited to connect with you, so follow along to keep up with the journey! Photographer introduction taken in Vancouver, British Columbia by @liamhjross

I may not technically be a “wildlife photographer”, but here are some of my favorite moments I’ve managed to capture along the way. 🐾📷
⠀
I don’t define myself by this title, but there’s something incredibly fulfilling about venturing into nature and waiting patiently for a chance to connect with what’s out there. Whether it’s a flash of movement in the trees, the quiet stare of an animal who notices you before you see it, or the early morning mist as the world starts to stir—those are the moments that keep pulling me back.

It’s not about the perfect shot, but about the experience of being fully present and in nature. There’s a kind of peace and perspective that comes with watching life unfold on its own terms, without human interference.
⠀
I’ve been inspired by so many photographers and storytellers who’ve dedicated their lives to documenting and protecting the natural world. Maybe one day I’ll be lucky enough to do the same in a more official capacity. For now, I’m just grateful for every opportunity to get out there and keep learning. @natgeo @bbcearth 👀

A quote to live by 😌 I first heard this from a teacher of mine who started a very small photography club at my school. And 10 years later, this is a sentiment that I try to remember and to live by every day. In other words, being in the right place doesn’t much matter if you aren’t there at the right time. by @liamhjross

I have never once shot on a drone…but yesterday that all changed.

I recently picked up the @djiglobal Mini 5 Pro and decided to take it on a road trip up the sea to sky highway.

Considered one of the most beautiful drives in the world, it’s a privilege to be able to get there within a few short hours. Even though you can’t fly in provincial parks in BC, there are so many beautiful places to pull over and take flight without disturbing anybody or anything.

For me it was amazing how simple it was to pull over, put the drone out the sunroof, and fly for nearly 30 minutes before coming back for a new battery.

Definitely a game changer for me as a photographer, and even after just one day, I can see how powerful of a tool this will be for my work going forward!

Part two. Driving along the sea to sky highway and testing out the new @djiglobal Mini 5 Pro, I also spent lots of time photographing from my feet with the @canoncanada EOS R5 Mark II.

The beauty and scenery of this corridor cannot be overstated.

I take it for granted, having done it so many times in my life, but when you stop at the places you’ve never stopped before you see it from a new perspective. And that’s when its true essence reveals itself. taken in Sea to Sky by @liamhjross

This summer was pretty cool :) Swipe for the whole recap ->

I went on many adventures. Both by boat,

but also by road. My little car took a beating on many forest service roads but she’s standing strong 💪🏼

I climbed a mountain…

with my friends, of course. I never would’ve made it up alone.

I hiked in search of the perfect view.

I may not have found it, but the million little gems along the way made the journey well worth my time.

I went to a bachelor party and celebrated a friend getting married :)

I also went to two more weddings, which took me to cool places and was so grateful to spend time with close friends and family celebrating the big moments.

For the first time in my life, I set foot on the Sunshine Coast, although a quick turnaround. It was a great taste and I’m now looking forward to going back from many more trips.

Because this is what you find around every corner.

(It’s amazing what you can see when you leave the city lights in your rearview mirror)

I golfed a ton and even saw some wildlife out there with us :)

And the countless @bcferries trips never got old.

This summer, I learned to see the world in a new light. Literally. I started looking for places where the light becomes extra interesting, where it takes on its own life and becomes a subject of its own.

And this pursuit took me places even close to home that I’ve never seen before.

But it also forced me to look differently at the things I’ve seen a million times.

And to find new ways of capturing that same old light that we’ve seen so many times. In a way that’s memorable, new and refreshing.

This summer changed a lot for me. In my approach to photography, but also in my renewed place in the world. And I cannot be more grateful for these past few months and the people who made them special.

Until we meet again, summer. taken in Vancouver, British Columbia by @liamhjross

I always struggle to post my commercial work on social media, mostly because it often isn’t in full alignment with what my niche is on here.

However, I had the opportunity to do a shoot with @sokastudios_ in preparation for an upcoming drop. This is one of those instances where we found the common ground that felt natural for both of our brands.

After discovery, we landed on some prompts that we would use to guide us: Motion, Angles, and Product Variety. After delivering more than 30 final images, I feel like we hit the mark in a way that satisfies both of our creative visions.

We used motion blur to represent that this clothing is made to move in. But that wasn’t enough. We also had to place the clothing in an environment that makes motion mandatory, not just a choice. And by combining these two elements we were able to make the pieces feel at home, in a place where they were designed to be worn.

I’m excited to do many more projects like this with the brand and the people behind it 🤙🏼 taken in Vancouver, British Columbia by @liamhjross
