This piece is something else I finished for Crimson Brush last month. It was done for the new Crimson Challenger category, which required entrants to paint the same figure (with some amount of conversion allowed): a Lord of Blights from @warhammerofficial

It was a really fun piece, and made a nice break from working on my big space marine. It was also another step in my gradual digital sculpting journey.

For my final post on big Adrax I figured I’d steal a trick from @davecolwell725 and go for a reverse WIP. Swipe to see some snapshots of the journey.

Photo quality varies, but I think it’s enough to get some insight into how much it changed (as usual, quite a lot) throughout the painting process.

Sculpt: @joapala
Figure printing: @matt.carnevale

This is a one off sculpt and will not be sold or otherwise distributed in any way.

@warhammerofficial very kindly sent me an early copy of the new Eldritch Raiders box, so I decided to paint my favourite model from the set.

Eldar models seem to be going from strength to strength at the moment. Really makes me think I should paint more of them.

Time for some closeups. Hopefully these offer another perspective on the piece.

Thanks for all the comments on my previous post! It’s amazing to see how many people are enjoying this piece.

Long time no post, but I’ve been busily working away at a couple of pieces for the last few months. The first of these is Adrax Agatone.

I have a well known love for Salamanders, but strangely enough I’ve never actually painted one purely for display. You know what they say: go big or go home.

I’ve been working on this piece off and on for well over a year (maybe close to 2?). The complex lighting and the sheer scale of the piece were a massive challenge, but I’m happy with where it ended up.

Many thanks to @davecolwell725 for some excellent feedback throughout.

For obvious reasons this sculpt is a one off, and will never be sold or otherwise distributed in any way. The sculpt (and more loosely the paint job) are based off an illustration inside the front cover of the last limited edition Salamanders codex. Unfortunately, I have no idea who the artist is.

Nurgle guy is ready for painting. All the sculpting was done by me, either digitally in blender or physically in Tamiya quick type and green stuff.

Big thanks to @davecolwell725 for a lot of exceptional composition advice while I was sculpting this.

Renders of another base I’ve been working on. This one will be for my crimson challenger entry @thecrimsonbrush. Now let’s hope I have time to paint it.

I’ve been working on my digital sculpting skills lately. This isn’t the first thing I’ve sculpted, but it probably is the first one I’ll paint.

Have a guess what’s going on the base (unless you’re one of the numerous people I’ve already told 😂).

Reshot this guy with a grey background, as I always found it difficult to get the colours looking right against black on this particular piece.

I painted this chill little slice of nature as a relaxing break after #theguildsinn2025. In a way, this is my favourite kind of project. Totally stress free.

Plants from @earthworks_scenics. As a tiny plant aficionado, I can confirm they are indeed very good.

Another Guilds Inn has come and gone, and I think it’s safe to say it was the best one yet.

Thanks to everyone who entered your work in standard and trusted me, @alexikpaints, and @timbopaints with the task of judging it. I hope to see all of you who just came along to check out the event entering next year!

Thanks to everyone who attended my class. I hope you all left with at least one useful bit of knowledge.

Onwards to Crimson Brush.

Some final shots of this piece I worked on for @toastyworkshop a while back. This time my own photos. It was a lot of fun to paint, and the project is now live on Kickstarter. Go check it out if you like the look of the model 😊
