Three match sculptures are on display in my exhibition “The Matchbox” @oygprojects - up for two more weeks!

Here are some behind-the-scenes moments from the (very messy but satisfying) making process. Burned matches are now scattered all over my studio...

“…Through the window, a used match sculpture is visible, and the gallery’s columns have become striking surfaces with marks and abrasions from previous strikes, serving as evidence of the gallery’s conflagration. The other two oversized match sculptures in the show represent different stages of change and (dis)functionality; the red match is unused, and the blue one is broken.”

1. Burnt Match (Black), 2026. Acrylic, sand, epoxy, polyurethane, graphite, pastel, wood, foam, 77”x 8”x8”
2. Unused Match (Red), 2026. Acrylic, sand, epoxy, polyurethane, wood, foam, 77”x 8”x8”
3. Broken Match (Blue), 2026. Acrylic, sand, epoxy, polyurethane, wood, foam, 77”x8”x8” taken in Ortega y Gasset Projects by @libbyrosa

Mirror Mirror is a wrap!

Thank you @amytothemax for inviting me to show with you at this special Baltimore project space and gallery @currentspace

One of my favorite moments in the show was designing the gallery storefront. We took inspiration from a small paper needle packet that I found among sewing materials at an estate sale. I experimented with piercing the storefront wall using my sewing pin sculptures to connect pins hanging on the opposite side.

Thanks to @timelesssignco for hand-painting and design assistance! by @libbyrosa

Libby Rosa, Pinning Stars, 2026. Cotton fabric with appliqué, polyester thread, polished aluminum, wood, flashe, 48”x80”x2”

On July 19 come to the closing reception for “Mirror Mirror” @amytothemax and I will speak about the work on view @currentspace

“The installation transforms the gallery into a site of distorted domesticity where the tools of sewing and craft become surreal. Rosa and Boone-McCreesh take turns adorning and framing each other’s works, creating a collaborative environment in which beauty serves as a mechanism for both control and survival. Throughout the space, Rosa’s oversized sewing pins pierce the walls, while Boone-McCreesh’s painted theatrical curtains function as viewing windows for the works on display. Rosa’s appliquéd curtain, Pinning Stars, featuring a motif of stars bleeding where they are pinned, frames McCreesh’s piece-work paper curtain.“

New works on view now @currentspace in “Mirror Mirror,” an exhibition of works by Amy Boone-McCreesh and Libby Rosa.

Drawing on mythology surrounding mirrors and beauty rituals, Mirror Mirror explores how femininity is shaped by systems of display and domestic labor. Rosa’s large handheld mirrors, held by green sculpted hands, engage the viewer in self-surveillance and reference the historical importance of mirrors for women seeking control over their environment. Reflection becomes both literal and psychological as viewers see themselves within fragmented spaces that symbolize environmental destruction for human benefit.

It was a joy collaborating with my friend and artist @amytothemax on our two-person exhibition “Mirror Mirror” @currentspace

For the past several months, Amy and I have been sharing in-progress photos of our work, book recommendations, and influences. I have loved getting to know Amy’s work more through this process (I was already a fan and exhibited her work previously @peepprojects). This collaboration inspired me to take some risks, play around, and have some fun while developing new skills and brushing up on old ones, like sewing a hollow curtain, routing mirror frames, and intarsia woodworking. @amytothemax and @adamtothemax are the best hosts, and @currentspace has been awesome to work with!

Exhibit Runs: June 6 - July 19, 2026
Closing Reception & Artist Talk: Sunday, July 19 from 4-6pm
Gallery Hours: Saturdays from 1-5pm, during public events, or by appointment

Details of new work on view in “Mirror Mirror,” an installation at @currentspace in Baltimore, MD, with Amy Boone-McCreesh and me.

Opening Reception: Saturday, June 6 from 6-9pm
Exhibit Runs: June 6 - July 19, 2026
Closing Reception & Artist Talk: Sunday, July 19 from 4-6pm
Gallery Hours: Saturdays from 1-5pm, during public events, or by appointment

“Mirror Mirror” features Baltimore-based artist Amy Boone-McCreesh and Philadelphia-based artist Libby Rosa in a mixed-media exploration of how domestic traditions and decorative arts shape female identity. The exhibition engages themes of vanity, class aspiration, and the shifting power dynamics between human-built environments and the natural world. Central to this narrative is the history of self-portraiture as a radical act of agency. Historically excluded from formal training and the study of the figure, women artists often turned to the mirror as their primary subject. In this exhibition, reclaiming the self as subject becomes a source of empowerment. Working across painting and sculpture, the artists treat the gallery as a mutable site for intervention, using painted theatrical curtains and engaged architectural sculpture to suggest hidden sectors existing beyond the physical walls.

Thank you @amytothemax for inviting me to do this collaborative installation.❤️ taken in Current Space by @libbyrosa
