A heads up that “julietmeeks1” on TikTok is NOT me and should be reported. Apparently they are messaging artists and claiming to be an art agent, assumedly leading into some sort of scam. 🥴 by @licensingforartists

My career so far in licensing was not something I expected as an English major in college…but I feel so lucky now to get to do what I love every day 💖

Since 2015, I’ve had the pleasure of working with 60+ licensees, from boutique brands to large retailers and everything in between. 🙌I’ve seen my art on hundreds of products like stationery, fabric, wall art, bedding, wallpaper, gift bags, accessories, and even dog collars, candles, skin care packaging, and nail wraps!

In 2019, I started teaching about the art licensing process to fellow artists. 👩‍🎨 Since then, I’ve taught my signature course Licensing for Artists almost every year.

Enrollment is currently open for 2026, but it closes SOON on Thursday! 👀 If you’re ready to develop your portfolio and start pitching your work, I’m here to guide you through each step.

Head to the link in my bio for the enrollment page, or comment COURSE below and I’ll DM you the link! Hope to see you in class this year! 🥳 by @licensingforartists

New on the blog! A few years ago, I signed with my lovely agent (@wainsworldlicensing in case you’re curious). Since I’ve worked both independently and with representation, I can share both sides with you. You can be happy with either option - it all depends on your unique situation.

Head to my blog (julietmeeks.com/blog) to read more about working with art agents including my tips on how to get signed.

Quick tip: everything you’re doing to create licensable art and attract clients, will help when you pitch to agents, too! Agents want to see licensable, marketable art in a style that fits within their agency. A professional, reliable work ethic is also key!

What do you think: are you interested in representation? 👇 by @licensingforartists

I often get questions in my inbox asking about what to charge for specific licensing situations. I wish I could give an easy answer each time, but there are so many factors to consider!

This confusion around pricing can be one of the reasons artists undercharge. You may feel overwhelmed by what to ask for - or you may feel like you’re asking for too much. If you’re in this situation, reach out to trusted sources for guidance and after a while, you’ll feel confident negotiating on your own.

Here are some quick pricing tips for you - save this post!

💰Art licensing royalties typically range from 3-10% for the artist. If you have an agent, you’ll split the proceeds (typically 50/50).
💰Flat fee payments range quite a lot and depend on what you’re able to negotiate. It all comes down to what you agree upon - don’t be afraid to ask for more than you think you can get.
💡There are a lots of factors to consider with flat fees especially like exclusivity, quantities sold, brand value and more. I teach about this in my Art Licensing Guide; it’s a PDF book you can download and start reading today. Link in my bio 🙌

Has discussing pricing ever held you back? Any tricky situations you’ve encountered? Feel free to share your experience! by @licensingforartists

It’s important in this industry to set realistic expectations. While it may seem like some artists have overnight success, it likely didn’t happen that way.

It can take years to build up your licensing artist brand and client list. Royalties take time to snowball. Many artists may never earn a full-time licensing income - and that may not be your goal! Define what success in this world looks like to YOU. Is it simply working with a favorite company? Seeing your art on a specific product type? Growing exposure to your brand? Earning a part-time income? Full-time? Write it down and start taking the steps to get there.

What is one of your upcoming goals? Let us know in the comments 👇 by @licensingforartists

Open for just a few more days! ⏰ What’s holding you back from joining Licensing for Artists this year? Let me know in the comments or send me a DM!✨ ⁣
⁣
Don’t wait if it’s because you feel like you need any of the following to license your art:⁣
⁣
❌ A huge portfolio⁣
❌ A well-known artist brand⁣
❌ A big social media following⁣
❌ An art agent⁣
❌ To feel 100% “ready” to do this⁣
⁣
These things aren’t necessary (I know firsthand), and I’ll show you how and why inside the course!⁣
 ⁣
✅ Join us this round if you know you want to license your art, whether that’s tomorrow or next year.⁣
⁣
Here’s the thing — licensing your art is not usually a quick process. It takes time to develop your art portfolio, get your website in order, pitch to potential licensees, and more. ⁣
⁣
And licensing deals themselves have their own timeline, which can take 1 year or more for those products with your art on them to hit the shelves after signing the agreement (I share that process in detail inside the course!).⁣
⁣
So why wait to get started? I’ll help you break down all of those steps inside the course to make it manageable for you. Goodbye, overwhelm!⁣
⁣
Hope to see you there! 🥳🙌🎨 by @licensingforartists
