SURVIVOR STORY: Elliot Boesl 💙

For Becca and Mark Boesl and their family, Labor Day weekend 2025 was supposed to be like any other weekend at home in rural Minnesota. Instead, a routine dirt bike ride turned into a moment that would change their family forever and show them the lifesaving difference air medical transport can make.

Becca had gotten home from work early that Friday when her 10-year-old son, Elliot, asked if he and his cousin could ride their dirt bikes the short distance to the family farm to help with chores. Growing up in a rural community, dirt bikes and ATVs were often more than recreation. They were a way for kids to get where they needed to go. So, like normal, Becca said yes.

About 10 minutes later, Elliot’s cousin came back, frantic. Elliot had crashed his dirt bike, and his head was bleeding. Becca immediately drove the quarter mile down the road. When she arrived, she found Elliot where his cousin had pulled him and the dirt bike safely off the road. Fortunately, a neighbor passing by had already stopped and called 911. Looking at Elliot’s injury, Becca knew he needed a level of care that wasn’t available locally. “I knew that it was not something that could be treated locally, and I asked if they would send a helicopter,” Becca recalled. Thankfully, Life Link III was nearby.

A new chapter for Life Link III in the Northland! 🚁

Today, we celebrated the grand opening and ribbon cutting of our new Duluth base at the Duluth International Airport! @duluthairport

This state-of-the-art facility represents years of planning, collaboration, and hard work, strengthening our ability to provide critical air medical services to rural communities throughout the Northland.

A special thank you to Congressman Pete Stauber @reppetestauber for joining us to speak, tour the facility, and cut the ribbon. His instrumental support helped make this project possible!

We’re also grateful to the Duluth Airport Authority for bringing this facility to life, along with the FAA, MnDOT Aeronautics, SEH, Johnson Willson Constructors, and all the partners who helped make this milestone a reality.

Here’s to a new home, continued partnerships, and many more years of serving our communities when they need us most! 💙

Last week, 112 golfers and many more volunteers and supporters joined us at the course for our Fairways For Flight Golf Scramble! ⛳️🚁

We had members of our consortium, vendors, healthcare and community partners, and even patients. The day was filled with inspiring connection and conversation.

Together, we raised over $84,000 in support of our mission and our continued investment in the people, equipment, training, and resources that help us provide exceptional critical care.

This week, Life Link III hosted a company-wide Air Medical Resource Training, focused on one of the most important things we do: safety.

This year’s theme, “Do the right thing. Every time.”, was woven throughout four days of training designed and developed in-house to create a tailored experience for our people and our operation.

Our team brought expertise from across Aviation, Clinical, Maintenance, and Communications and OCC to share knowledge, reinforce best practices, and strengthen the way we work together.

Four days of learning, discussion, and hands-on training, all with the same goal: keeping each other, our patients, and our communities safe! 💙
