His duet with a copper plate Everything brings us back to the body was invited to this year’s [8:tension] Series at ImPulsTanz – Vienna International Dance Festival.

He told me about the times when his theater friend asked him to do a choreography – and he had to look up what choreography even means. When imported video tapes were his only source to see contemporary dance. How a broken foot started up his career, what gives him goosebumps, and how he made a copper plate his stage partner.

Encounters, fleeting visions, and mysterious bodies appear and disappear in the smoke. Influenced by the genre of circle dance as well as the controversial 1897 sexual drama Reigen by Arthur Schnitzler, Viktor Szeri’s new piece is an ode to male nudity and intimacy.

The circle is the symbol of belonging, community and continuity, but it also mirrors the round architectural elements and spatial layout of traditional bathhouses, which have historically served as sites of homoerotic fantasy and interaction. The performance evokes the androgyn bodies and the dynamics of Henri Matisse’s painting La danse (Dance): hidden connections and the liberating power of movement are unfolding in the choreography. With a sensual yet immersive approach, Szeri delves into the hidden realms of pleasure, sexuality, and nudity, challenging the social conventions and taboos surrounding the intimacy between men.

Wojciech Grudziński was invited with his solo performed by two called Cute & Akward to this year's [8:tension] Series.

We talked about making life decisions at the young age of 10, which options a dancer in Poland has to become contemporary. In which ways being abroad can strengthen your connection with your home country and how a local scene can change for the better even before political terms change.

The solo performance depicts the process of self-discovery of a transient being in a post-apocalyptic world. The path to self-discovery is expressed through the imagery of a hunt, which gravitates from an external source toward an internal destination.

Choreographic Convention – Friday the 13th of November! 🎂

Finally – Choreographic Convention has been released! 😍 We have a full day of artistic interventions, performative gestures, workshops, performances, and a Soup Talk Panel. There is so much to experience with beautiful artists sharing their artistic processes and practices.

Choreographic Convention is a one-day event spreading across the city in several venues, and consisting of different parcours – French for journey, path, or route. You take part in a parcours of your choice, and follow it throughout the day, some times crossing paths with the other parcours.

Uferstudios in Berlin have a new team member! Claudia Stoleru joins the crew for the next three months in the frame of On The Outset.

Claudia works as an independent cultural worker in the intersecting fields of production, curation, research and mediation. She completed her bachelor’s degree in cultural work at the University of Applied Science in Potsdam and pursued a master’s degree in arts and culture at the University of Applied Arts.
In her research and educational practice, she is interested in interdisciplinary forms of knowledge that bring dance, performance, and the visual arts together and blur institutional boundaries.

Janina Rajakangas, Liu Chang and Janne Aspvik are nominated by Moving in November for an Artistic Exchange Residency in Montpellier, at Agora, Cité Internationale de la Danse. This residency serves as a research and development phase for the new work Drummer boy, which will be completed in 2027. On 15 October they invite to a public showing!

A new @lifelongburning production, hunt:malfunction by @tamaskoh will premiere at @mu_szinhaz on October 8. 🔥

"I scan the space; I’ve arrived in an unknown world. I’m stuck in a phase just before waking, and only distant lights and faint sounds seep into my consciousness. I’m on my own. The lights grow stronger, illuminating my body. I open my eyes. A lifeless, desolate landscape is around me. The lights urge me to take a step. The step becomes movement. Movement becomes determination. Time stretches, space expands. I am no longer myself; I have been transformed. I close my eyes and set off."

A hunt:malfunction szólóelőadás egy átutazó lény önmegismerési folyamatát mutatja be egy posztapokaliptikus világban. Az önmegismeréshez vezető út egy vadászat képében kerül kifejezésre, ami külső forrásból belső cél felé gravitál.
