Anna Karenina Lambrechts shared her work with us this Wednesday as part of her residency. ❤️‍🔥 She's spending a week in Budapest as a participant of the Life Long Burning – Creative Crossroads programme.

In her first dance solo From Gravity to Grace, she goes in search of her roots and identity. The solo reveals a unique and highly personal dance language that transcends the boundaries of style, culture and time. Krump, traditional Filipino dance and contemporary dance intertwine and untangle. The solo is an ode to the way in which the diversity of roots can be a great strength.

Grateful to host you for a little while, @annalambrechts! ✨

Our new @lifelongburning resident is Viktorija Ilioska @aponiailioska . From October 19 to October 28, Viktorija Ilioska takes up residency at the our studios in Bau West.

Viktorija Ilioska is a choreographer, performer, and artist who explores choreography through various mediums, including movement, text, voice, and sound. She studied at the Faculty of Music Arts in Skopje (BA in Dance Pedagogy and Repertory) and at the Institute for Applied Theater Studies in Gießen (MA in Choreography and Performance).

She views choreography as an evolving, expanded practice that transforms into the organization of space—a toolkit for analysis that functions beyond mere expression. For her, it becomes a critical field of knowledge. In this framework, performance and dance are employed as strategic tools to navigate the tension between structures, order, and procedural systems. She relates to artistic practice as a relationship between doing and becoming, a process shaped by both research and the pursuit of knowledge.

Residency: Hope for the Best, Prepare for the Worst is currently imagined as a solo performance that examines theatre as a resource in a time of extreme extraction. The work begins from a contradiction: the more resources are depleted, the more intensely the remaining ones are exploited. Yet there is one resource that is repeatedly overlooked because it is not immediately measurable or material: the audience. The bodies gathered in a theatre, their attention, imagination, capacity to witness and ability to collectively experience something are among the last resources available.

Ilioska will investigate what happens when the audience is no longer treated simply as the receiver of a performance, but as an active resource within its economy. What can be extracted from an audience? What can an audience generate? What remains when attention itself has become exhausted? And what political possibilities emerge from the fact that theatre can still gather people in the same room and ask them to imagine otherwise?

This residency is part of the Creative Crossroads project #lifelongburning #creativecrossroads #cofundedbytheeuropeanunion

gergő d. farkas took part in a residency in Zagreb as part of the Life Long Burning – Creative Crossroads programme.

In their own words: "Last September, I had the chance to spend two weeks in Zagreb as a resident artist hosted by the inspiring team of Antisezona.
The residency was full of meaningful encounters: Zagreb's scene felt hopeful and resilient; my host artists Dora Brkarić and Anja Mergeduš were warm and talented; and Antisezona felt extremely relevant, not only through the events it organises but also through the way it organises itself around the events it organises: it is alive."

Encounters, fleeting visions, and mysterious bodies appear and disappear in the smoke. Influenced by the genre of circle dance as well as the controversial 1897 sexual drama Reigen by Arthur Schnitzler, Viktor Szeri’s new piece is an ode to male nudity and intimacy.

The circle is the symbol of belonging, community and continuity, but it also mirrors the round architectural elements and spatial layout of traditional bathhouses, which have historically served as sites of homoerotic fantasy and interaction. The performance evokes the androgyn bodies and the dynamics of Henri Matisse’s painting La danse (Dance): hidden connections and the liberating power of movement are unfolding in the choreography. With a sensual yet immersive approach, Szeri delves into the hidden realms of pleasure, sexuality, and nudity, challenging the social conventions and taboos surrounding the intimacy between men.

A new @lifelongburning production, hunt:malfunction by @tamaskoh will premiere at @mu_szinhaz on October 8. 🔥

"I scan the space; I’ve arrived in an unknown world. I’m stuck in a phase just before waking, and only distant lights and faint sounds seep into my consciousness. I’m on my own. The lights grow stronger, illuminating my body. I open my eyes. A lifeless, desolate landscape is around me. The lights urge me to take a step. The step becomes movement. Movement becomes determination. Time stretches, space expands. I am no longer myself; I have been transformed. I close my eyes and set off."

The solo performance depicts the process of self-discovery of a transient being in a post-apocalyptic world. The path to self-discovery is expressed through the imagery of a hunt, which gravitates from an external source toward an internal destination.
