Let us introduce ourselves
Hi! We are Ava & Elise, both Australia based type 1 chicky's who have recently began on our journey running T1D retreats.
Soul sissies with a passion for community connection, movement + nature as medicine & holistic practices that deepen your relationship with self & your ability to connect with others.

Ava got diabetes at 11 & spent her teen years pretending diabetes didn't exist, hiding in the toilets to give insulin, refusing to wear a CGM as she didn't feel it was cute, completely overwhelmed with the weight of diabetes & in her 20's freaking out about her future health which led her to yoga as a way to settle her anxiety. The practice of self awareness on her yoga mat carried into her day to day, where she leant in to her diabetes and built a life that honours her health.

Elise found both her diagnosis of type 1 diabetes & her love for surfing at 13 years old. Misinformation, fear & misconceptions from others ankered her down in the beginning, doubtful she could ever live a 'normal' life again. Through surfing she built confidence & found humbling by the ocean + deeper connection to owning an understanding self. Now she travels and surfs to remote islands across the world, educating others through conversations & inspiring others like herself that anything is possible (what excess preparation it may take), to live life beyond fear, speak up when needed & live life unafraid of being oneself and 100% everyday.

At the beginning of this month we followed our hearts calling and fostered the seedling of inspiration we had many 🌙s ago to create a space for other type ones like ourselves to fill their cup & drop down their diabetes walls.
It was even more magical than we could have planned.. Sharing all of the day to day diabetes moments we usually do alone, alarms, bolusing, treating lows mid activity, star jumping together through the highs, relating with others & conversing about health & anxiety burnout- a thread between us all of love, knowing and seeing others go through the same released the armour- shame, guilt & worry & gifted lil moments of self compassion & love.
