So we had an idea… 🥹

What if we turned our family photos into a little bedtime story for Esther and Jacob?

Dear Esther and Jacob,

This book isn’t perfect.

Some of the drawings don’t fully look like you.
Some pages are a little messy.
And honestly, this was just our first try at making something like this.

But last night, something happened that Mommy and Daddy will never forget.

The moment we showed you the story, Esther, your eyes just lit up.

You smiled at every single page.
You pointed at the pictures.
You cuddled closer while we read it together.

And when we finished the story, you asked us to read it again.

So we read the whole bedtime story twice.

And somehow, in that moment, none of the imperfections mattered anymore.

Because you saw yourself in it.

You saw your adventures.
Your little brother.
Your cuddles.
Your family.

And that’s when we realized this was never really about making a perfect children’s book.

It was about preserving these little moments before they quietly become memories.

One day, you’ll both grow older.
Life will move faster.
These bedtime cuddles won’t last forever.

But now, a small piece of your childhood will always live inside these pages.

Not perfect.
But real.
And full of love.

I really thought our kids would look 50/50 🫠

But somehow… Ed’s Filipino genes said:
“Absolutely not.”

People see Esther and Jacob and instantly know they’re Daddy’s babies 😂

Honestly, if it wasn’t for the lighter hair sometimes, you’d never even guess they’re mixed.

And the funny part is…
before having kids, you imagine this perfect little combination of both of you.

Then your children arrive and one side of the family basically copy-pastes themselves 😝

Still one of my favorite things ever though.
Seeing little pieces of the person you love show up in your kids is such a beautiful gift from God.

Some dreams take years before you finally get to see them. 🥹

There was a time when it was just the two of us… sitting there, laughing, daydreaming, wondering what our future children would look like one day.

Would they have her eyes?
My smile?
Her personality?
My skin tone?
Would they look more Filipino or more Lithuanian?

Back then, it all felt so far away.

And now… here we are.

No longer imagining.
No longer wondering.

Just watching two little reminders that God can turn simple prayers and quiet dreams into something more beautiful than we ever pictured in our heads. 🤍

Sometimes I look at Esther and Jacob and still can’t believe they’re ours.

And now, somehow, we get to experience that feeling all over again… because baby number three is on the way. 🥹

We’re already catching ourselves daydreaming again.
Wondering who he or she will look like.
What little features they’ll get from mommy and daddy.
And how our hearts somehow keep making room for even more love.

Life moves so fast.
One moment you’re dreaming about the future…
and the next, you’re living in the very thing you once prayed for.

Never.

One day, the house will be quieter.

The toys will be packed away.
The bedtime cuddles will stop.
And the little voices shouting “Dada!” will slowly become fewer and fewer.

And no parent ever looks back on life and says,
“I spent too much time with my kids.”

One of my dearest memories growing up with my late dad was something me and my brothers called “Papa Time.”

Almost every night before bed, we’d wrestle on the bed.
Laughing, rough play, complete chaos.

Looking back now, it probably wasn’t the smartest thing before bedtime… but those moments became some of the most precious memories of my childhood.

It wasn’t expensive.
It wasn’t fancy.
It was just time.

Now I catch myself doing the same thing with Esther and Jacob.

They call me “Dada,” so now we have “Dada Time.”

Wrestling.
Tickles.
Laughing until we can barely breathe.

And every time we do it, I’m reminded how precious these moments really are.

Because one day, there’ll be one final Dada Time.
And as parents, we never know when the “last time” is happening.

My dad probably never realized how much those simple moments would stay with me for the rest of my life.

And now through my own kids, God keeps reminding me:
the little moments are actually the big moments.

So I’ll keep saying yes to Dada Time for as long as they still ask for it. ❤️

Some kids don’t just inherit your face… they inherit your entire personality too 🤍

Watching Esther do the exact same little mannerisms, facial expressions, and calm energy as me honestly makes me laugh sometimes.

She looks so much like her Filipino daddy 🇵🇭
But somehow she acts exactly like her Lithuanian mommy 🇱🇹

Same calm presence.
Same quiet confidence.
Same peaceful energy.

It’s crazy how children become this perfect little mix of both parents in ways you never expect.

Not just through looks.
But through habits, personality, reactions, and the tiny things they pick up without you even realizing it.

And honestly… seeing little pieces of yourself living inside your children is one of the sweetest gifts from God.

Life’s better with you ❤️

The older we get, the more we realize that some of the best moments in life are actually the simplest ones.

The little selfies.
The random family videos.
The laughter in between the chaos.
Just being together.

There was a time when it was only the two of us trying to figure life out side by side. Now it’s the four of us… and somehow life feels fuller, louder, sweeter, and more meaningful than we ever imagined.

Not perfect.
Not always easy.
But genuinely beautiful.

We’re so thankful for how far we’ve come as a family, and honestly, we’re even more excited for everything still ahead of us.

If there’s one thing this season of life is teaching us, it’s that the people you do life with really do change everything.
