Joker: Folie à Deux (2024) showed us that we shouldn’t worry when we see ourselves in on-screen villains.

Rebel Without a Cause (1955), released in CinemaScope 70 years today.
Director Nicholas Ray’s use of the ultra wide frame went beyond just a wow factor for audiences. It was used to express the film’s themes of loneliness, social connection and power struggles of middle class American youth.
This excerpt from Daniel Blumensev’s video essay looks at the sequence building to the film’s memorable knife fight at Griffith Observatory. taken in Griffith Observatory by @lifilmsociety

Happy World Teachers’ Day from “Ned Schneebly”
Several interior scenes from SCHOOL OF ROCK (2003) were filmed at the prestigious Buckley Country Day School in Roslyn, NY - specifically those set in the teachers’ lounges, offices and the cafeteria.

Doug Bradley on set for HELLBOUND : HELLRAISER II (1988)
📍📌🎳🧷
Bradley wanted to keep his character the focus of attention so he remained mostly hidden from the rest of the cast while shooting the first film. While he became the memorable draw of the film, his fellow actors did not know who he was and ignored him at the wrap party.

Happy Birthday, #KlausKinski.
In NOSFERATU THE VAMPYRE (1979), the 2nd of 5 collaborations with #WernerHerzog, Kinski stars as a Dracula reminiscent of Max Schreck’s in F.W. Murnau’s 1922 silent film.

Some trivia for THE DEVIL’S ADVOCATE (1997), released 25 years ago today.
😈
The three joggers chasing Eddie Barzoon (#JeffreyJones) each correspond to a color of one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, more specifically, the color of their horses: White, (Conquest, or Pestilence), Red (War), and Black (Famine). The scene is intercut with John Milton (#AlPacino) who wears Green (Death).

Happy Birthday to Tim Robbins, star of JACOB’S LADDER (1990).
🪜
All SFX were filmed live, with no post-production, including the famous ‘shaking head effects which director Adrian Lyne filmed with actors waving their heads around with shoulders and body completely still at 4fps, resulting in an incredibly fast and deeply disturbing motion when played back at the normal frame-rate of 24fps.

The My Buddy doll line, launched by Hasbro in 1985, was intended to make a doll appeal to little boys and teach them about caring for their friends.
Following the release of CHILD’S PLAY (1988), featuring a similar toy in stripes, the My Buddy toy line has never recovered.
