Jan Durina: Night Shift

Jan Durina: Night Shift
Curated by: Éda Meggyesházi
Opening: 10 September 2026. 7-9 pm
Address: Liget Gallery (Ajtósi Dürer sor 5., Budapest 1146)

Night Shift is Jan Durina’s first show in Hungary at Liget Gallery as well as his first solo exhibition since 2023.

The show deals with the idea of shifting realities, vulnerability, refuge and immersion, all under the watchful eye of nightfall. Leaving behind external expectations, an intuitive process emerges throughout the exhibition, bringing together the longing for plainspoken aesthetics, eroticism and tenderness, care and exhaustion and the closeness of the burdens of the self. Thus, the night becomes a symbolic territory in which another form of attention can emerge.

The exhibition is on view until 16 October, Wednesday to Friday 4-7 pm.

🐩🪾We warmly invite you to the opening of our next exhibition, What does it mean to see a dog in a dream? curated by hoast, on 28 October 2026 at 7 pm.

Guardian and threat, familiar and uncanny, a dog is a creature stationed at the threshold between the known and the unseen. What does it mean to see one in a dream? Could it be premonition or warning?

The works belong to a pictorial tradition in which human and animal pass into one another and the anthropomorphic becomes object. The scenes give philosophical concepts a visual form and unsettle the familiar through unexpected encounters.

The opening will feature a live performance by Marta Beauchamp.

The exhibition is on view until 4 December, Wednesday to Friday 4-7 pm.

The exhibition is supported by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Housing, Arts, Culture, Media and Sport @kunstkulturministerium, the Austrian Cultural Forum Budapest @acfbudapest and the National Cultural Fund of Hungary (NKA).

The exhibition is part of the Art Weekend Budapest @art_weekend_budapest programme.

🐩🪾Szeretettel várunk mindenkit a hoast What does it mean to see a dog in a dream? című csoportos kiállításának megnyitójára október 28-án 19 órakor.

A megnyitót Marta Beauchamp performansza kíséri.

A kiállítás december 4-ig látogatható, szerdától péntekig, 16:00–19:00 között.

A kiállítás az Osztrák Szövetségi Lakásügyi, Művészeti, Kulturális, Média- és Sportminisztérium, az Osztrák Kulturális Fórum Budapest, valamint a Nemzeti Kulturális Alap (NKA) támogatásával valósul meg.

A kiállítás az Art Weekend Budapest programjának része.
