When you need to make changes to an image in your project, LightBurn has a few tools to help expedite the process. If you’ve made edits to the image outside of LightBurn, use Refresh Image to read the most recent image file. Replace Image lets you swap one image out with a different one, and Replace Image to Fit replaces the image with one scaled to fit in the space taken up by the original image.

In version 2.2, we'll have full support for @accelaser 's new flying galvo machines, the HD1 series.

The HD1 combines gantry and galvo motion systems into a single machine, leading to much faster processing times without sacrificing cutting ability or working area. It also comes with dual diode and fiber laser sources; overhead and head mounted cameras for positioning; and LiDAR ranging for focusing and surface height mapping.

We've worked closely with the ACCELaser team to implement support for every feature, so you can continue to use your favorite software (that's us!) with the latest and greatest technology the laser world has to offer.

Camera-assisted Print & Cut is here in LightBurn 2.2. Using a Head Mounted camera, this system can automatically identify marks in your design, then align, orient, and scale your laser output to match.

We’ve added a new option to the Trace Image tool — Center Line Trace. It’s a great option for tracing logos, sketches, and text.

While “medial axis” is sort of a fancy way of saying “center line”, it also carries an important distinction — this is cold, hard math, and the result might not be quite what you think it should be by eyeball. Especially if you feed in a low resolution image, you’ll get a result with lots of offshoots where the pixel-to-path equation says the medial axis is. Stick to high-res images with clear outlines for best results.

Use Break Apart to separate the paths of vector graphics into the individual curves and lines that make them up. These segments can then be selected and modified independently from each other.

We're thrilled to announce that we've added support for @epiloglaser machines in LightBurn 2.2 — available now in early access.

Epilog has long been a leading manufacturer in the laser industry, with a reputation for quality, high-performance machines. We've worked closely with their team to implement LightBurn support for their full range of hardware.

Note that our support for Epilog lasers is a "Labs" feature in 2.2. That means we've tested to the point that we're confident it's ready for public use, but we also know it needs a little more testing before we call it 100% complete.

Use Warp Selection and Deform Selection to stretch selected objects by clicking and dragging on their handles. Warp gives you a handle in each corner and is great for applying a perspective warp, and Deform’s grid of 16 handles provides granular control for finer adjustments.

If you're in the maker world, have eyes, and existed on the internet this week, you probably saw some very positive buzz around @bambulab_official 's upcoming R1 laser.

We're excited too, for a couple of reasons. First, a lot of us at LightBurn are 3D printing nerds, so we know Bambu's reputation, and we knew they were going to build a great laser. Second, we've been working closely with Bambu for months to be able to provide full LightBurn support for their machines. We work with many great vendors in the laser world, and we were thrilled to see Bambu join their ranks.

Here's where we're at: in 2.2 (coming soon, and available now in early access), LightBurn will have the ability to create and export G-code compatible with the R1. You'll need to use a special device configuration file provided by Bambu to do so.

In 2.3 (coming in the not-too-distant future), we're planning for more support: direct connection, all the R1's special features, and the complete start-to-finish LightBurn workflow.

Going forward, we can't wait to see what Bambu comes up with next, and to continue working with them to make sure LightBurn users can take full advantage of all they have to offer.
