💥 NEW ACQUISITION | THE BIG BOOM!

We’re delighted to welcome THE BIG BOOM!, the latest feature documentary by Swiss filmmaker Gabriel Tejedor, to our lineup ahead of its World Premiere at IDFA!

In Bulgaria’s Valley of Roses, rose oil and folklore traditions coexist with a booming arms industry supplying Ukraine’s frontlines. In Kazanlak, where thousands depend on weapons production for their livelihoods, ties to Russia and pacifist ideals collide with the everyday need to survive.

With irony and intimacy, THE BIG BOOM! explores the contradictions at the heart of today’s Europe, where war is both a distant conflict and a local reality.

Directed by Gabriel Tejedor
Produced by Mira Film Basel GmbH
Co-produced by RTS Radio Télévision Suisse and SRG SSR

Following its World Premiere at Giornate degli Autori’s Notti Veneziane, AUBER 89 by Giuseppe Schillaci will celebrate its International Premiere at DOK Leipzig!

Using forgotten archives to reconnect actor Fatsah Bouyahmed with his past, the film resurrects the voices of a working-class community whose shared efforts once imagined a different future for the Parisian suburbs. As past and present converge, one question remains, as Anca Păunescu writes in the festival’s synopsis: have we come to see solidarity as utopian, and is a better future still possible?

📍 DOK Leipzig | 26 October – 1 November 2026
🏆 International Competition Documentary Film
✨ Nominated for the Prize of the Interreligious Jury and the FIPRESCI Prize

Special panel discussion on “Resistance and Activism for Western Sahara”, on the occasion of the World Premiere of MY HOME OF WIND AND SAND at the Zurich Film Festival.

The panel was sabotaged, and most of the seats were booked with fake email adresses, so that the cinema stays empty.
Hence we decided to put the recording online for everyone to see.

We’re thrilled to announce that we’re taking on international sales for NOSTALGIA FOR THE FUTURE, Brecht Debackere’s cinematic journey into the enigmatic world of filmmaker Chris Marker. 🐈

Narrated by Charlotte Rampling, the film transforms photographs, documents and film fragments from Marker’s personal archive into a living landscape of memory and a meditation on how the images of our past shape the futures we imagine.

Following its world premiere at Cannes Classics and a run of festival screenings, NOSTALGIA FOR THE FUTURE now arrives at @filmfestgent, with screenings on October 11, 12 and 15.

We’re thrilled to welcome MY HOME OF WIND AND SAND, directed by Patrick Wally, to the Lightdox catalogue ahead of its World Premiere at the Zurich Film Festival!

For over ten years, Patrick Wally followed Najla Mohamed Lamin - a Sahrawi activist born in a refugee camp in Algeria - as she raises her family, advocates for her community and continues her peaceful campaign for the right to self-determination for Western Sahara.

More than a film about a decades-long conflict, MY HOME OF WIND AND SAND is an intimate portrait of resilience, identity and the determination to imagine a future when change can feel impossibly far away.

The film will have its World Premiere tomorrow, Tuesday 29 September at 18:00 at KINOKONI 6, screening in the Documentary Competition at the Zurich Film Festival. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmaking team, with Greta Thunberg joining Najla Mohamed Lamin for a conversation. Public screenings will continue on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday.
