Here is 1 of 5 paintings shown for the final exhibition of my degree. This painting was born from a pleasant mistake, a rotated canvas, and the sudden realisation on completion that I’d painted a window without knowing it.
Maybe that’s the poetry of this particular work: gestures, whether intentional or accidental, allow anything to emerge through the cracks.

After a year of attempting to complete a painting a week, this piece feels like the close of an era and the start of something firmer in my practice.

A month ago, I had the chance to be part of Soft Machines—a cross-continental collaboration between students from @usp.oficial (São Paulo) and Honours students at @vca_mcm . The resulting work was exhibited simultaneously at @mac_usp in São Paulo and the @vcaartspace in Melbourne.

In the 5 weeks lead-up, our days and many late nights were filled with conversations, questions, and problem-solving. Thankyou to my collaborators—for their patience, generosity, and openness.
This work wouldn’t exist without you.

The piece took inspiration from the Colour Index International (CI)*—a global system that classifies pigments and dyes, transforming something as fleeting as colour into ordered knowledge.
In a similar spirit, I created a personal system to chart this process. This structure became a foundation for collaborative experimentation—where repetition, ritual, and data formed a shared language.

The process:
1. Over a 24hr period during the blood moon, each of my collaborators documented their metrics.
2. They then logged scores into a shared spreadsheet.
3. These numbers were calculated into final values.
4. At the end of the cycle (AUS/BRZ), each individual had one unique number.
5. I divided these by 13084.81—the kilometre distance between Melbourne and São Paulo.
6. The result was mapped to the Colour Index. The colours revealed were beyond our control.
