Hey Hillbrow! Let’s Dlala! 2025 - Time Travel through Dreaming presented by @windybrowartscentre and @shade_community

We are a little late in sharing the magic that was co-curated by the many voices of children from across Hillbrow and the surrounds in collaboration with @dlalanje @mesorgsa @fightwithinsight_za @gcebiledlaminifoundation Johannesburg Society for the Blind, Clubhouse youth, @lefikalaphodiso @innovationofexcellence & Windybrow’s Jnrs, Teens and Literacy groups.

Thank you to all the artists, performers, makers, dreamers, production teams, security, waste reclaimers, caterers, musicians, fabricators, volunteers, photographers, facilitators, journalists, donors, supporters, our curators, directors and attendees in realising this slice of magic in the streets of Hillbrow. Many, many hands contributed to this dreamy world we built together.

PLAY WITH YOUR FOOD was a wonderful and whimsical collaboration with Chefs @the_lulu_stone and @orlioh who took to the occasion, and played, hard!

All inspired by the youth in our programmes at the Clubhouse and @windybrowartscentre : our muses to make and play and share.

The evening was scored by the masterfreak @thisisjbs and paired with visuals by the one and only @duceduce___

@cammiezoe served all things ceramics and led the @shade_community youth in making.

@limb_its curated and played, and alongside @cammiezoe - they even served 🔥

Our gracious kitchen team Ashley, Pride and Eva - thank you for running and playing.

@intermission thank you for these treasured time capsules through your photographs.

@matthichens thanks for trusting us to play in your home and kitchen @one_park_cpt

Over the past few months some incredible collaborations have culminated into a feast of wonder, as we took to the streets in a spectacle of dreaming, travelling through time, minds and hearts. So many had a hand in its creation, with deep care and creativity - in dreaming into fruition a reclamation of our future, in building a monochrome world but echoing all colours.
