We see you tonight: 8pm @dancelimerick for session 1.

One final addition to tonight is a stance and pledge to stand again prejudice and discrimination, by remembering our past so we don’t repeat it! We have carefully crafted “more dogs, more black, more irish” with the help of the talented @shorty_rawedge and @limerickprintmakers for making the screen for the print. T-shirt is on a first come first serve basis, but we will have this in all of our future event going forwards. This will be the message we want to put out in our word but most importantly for us as humans to remember deep within our HeARTS 💚. #fightagaisntinjustice

PRE-TEXT: The phrase “No Irish, No Blacks, No Dogs” describes discriminatory signs and rules that reportedly appeared in windows and doors of boarding houses, pubs, and hotels in post-World War II Britain during the 1950s and 1960s.

Context: Co Founder @tobiomoteso and Creative Manager @isac_with1a were both attacked with discriminatory intent 5 months ago when going to set up for our annual festival in Limerick City on a Saturday morning which resulted in life altering injuries both physically and psychologically.

Note: The first line of law enforcement action if you have suffered from similar circumstances is to reference “ Criminal Justice Hate Offences Act 2024”.

CULTURE NIGHT 2026 - LIMERICK PRINTMAKERS CELEBRATES ICONIC LIMERICK

6.30PM - 8.45PM SHARP
ALL AGES, ALL EVENING - KIDS & FAMILIES/ YOUNG ADULTS/ ADULTS
NO BOOKING REQUIRED

Culture Night is the perfect time to celebrate Limerick's cultural legacy, & this year Limerick Printmakers will be highlighting all that is iconic about the city through the magic of silkscreen printmaking.

Limerick Printmakers will have a wide range of Limerick's favourite landmarks & places ready to screen print by hand, drawn from the city's love of history, sport, outdoor spaces, food & drink.
We'll also have some funky patterns & shapes in the mix to ensure everyone can create a print that's truly unique to them.

The LP team & some of our fantastic studio members will be on hand to assist everyone who comes to print on Culture Night.

Come join us at Limerick Printmakers from 6.30pm - 8.45pm.
Please note that while the last intake is scheduled for 8.45pm, if we have a large queue still waiting inside the studio at that time,
we may have to stop taking people a little earlier than 8.45pm so we advise you to get to LP earlier in the evening to avoid disappointment.

LP' ICONIC LIMERICK Quiet Hour from 5.30pm - 6.30pm is now fully booked.

Please note that due to the age of the LP building & its status as a protected structure, LP is not wheelchair accessible at this time.
Please bear with us as we work to change this.

‘Celtic Twilight’
4 collagraph collage, edition of 6
This edition was created during the final stage of my residency at Limerick Printmakers. The work celebrates, whilst also questioning, the contemporary revival and reinterpretation of Irish culture. It brings together cultural references from different periods of Irish history, from the Neolithic carvings of Knowth to the more recently established symbolism associated with the Claddagh, attributed to Galway goldsmith Richard Joyce.
The phone is placed alongside these historic symbols as a contemporary object of cultural significance. The contrast is deliberate, ancient stones and traditional motifs are positioned against a device that has become almost inseparable from everyday life. While making the print, I became increasingly aware of the extent to which we depend on phones, and how this dependence cannot simply be understood as an individual failing. Within modern Western society, a smartphone can provide access to essential services, community, employment, information and entertainment. At the same time, these functions can encourage dependency and a disconnect to the natural world.
The work also considers the role of social media in the recent revival of Irish and Celtic imagery. Platforms have made historical patterns, symbols and crafts more visible and accessible, allowing them to be rediscovered, reproduced and reinterpreted on an enormous scale. I find this development both fascinating and uncanny. Traditions that originated in very different social, religious and cultural contexts now circulate through the same digital spaces that shape modern life.
The print is ultimately concerned with this contradiction but also the similarities that is the complexity of human experience.
I still plan on posting some more about my residency but for now I must thank @limerickprintmakers for the surreal opportunity they awarded me last year. I still can’t believe I was chosen and will be forever grateful. I would highly recommend anyone join their community in whatever way you can. A beautiful studio full of wonderful people. ❤️ by @limerickprintmakers

We were delighted to recently welcome our 2026 international artist-in-residence, Jan Kukułka to LP.

During his time in the studio, Jan worked on developing a series of stone lithography prints, and we really enjoyed getting a glimpse into his process and practice.

As part of the residency, Jan also gave an artist talk for our studio members, sharing more about his work, influences and approach to printmaking.

Thank you Jan, we really enjoyed welcoming you to the studio & hope you enjoyed your time in Limerick.

Jan is a printmaker from Poland, where he continues to reside.

Graduating in 2023 with Honours from Academy of Fine Art and Design in Katowice, Poland,
Jan's work spans multiple mediums with special focus on printmaking, drawing, painting and video. Kukułka’s artistic projects explore human connection and experience of space and time in the digital age. They tackle concepts such as escapism, nostalgia and ‘deep time’.

His current work explores correlations between 'deep time' and 'deep space', taking inspiration from 19th century prints depicting cosmic and natural phenomena.

🍀 I've just spent eleven fantastic days at @limerickprintmakers on an international residency. My aim was to try out some visual and technical variations to use in my new, planned, project. I ended up with six versions (twenty-five prints) that helped me to decide the direction I want to pursue.

It was my first artistic residency, and it couldn't have happened in a better, more friendly, chill and welcoming space. I am immensely grateful to the whole fantastic team at LP: @jessmarybeth @sibealriordanartist. @dylanbuckleystudio and @seanlallyart . It was also great to meet some of the artist-members of the studio.

Finally, it was amazing coming back to Ireland. I am very fond of this unique and beautiful country, and it's people. Go raibh maith agat as gach rud! 🇮🇪

Here are a few more photos from my recent AIR @ballinaartscentre from @printnetworkireland through @limerickprintmakers. I began my residency by limiting with scale and materials. I created at least nine oval cyanotype prints each day for three days never repeating the pattern. Then like most artists I grew restless with my limited scale and decided to work larger with the materials I had. I walked the river bank in Ballina and found plants or some would call weeds to work with. After my father passed my mother lamented that he was cutting the grass one day and he purposefully left a batch of dockens intact and said “we will leave them incase any of the children get a nettle sting and they need a dock leaf”. #cyanotype #mayo #artist #nettle by @limerickprintmakers

Limerick Printmakers is delighted to officially announce that LSAD Printmaking Contemporary Practice graduate Roisin Maher was recently awarded the LP Printmaking Bursary at the LSAD graduate exhibition.

The LP team were impressed by the personal visual language she created within her installation to evoke the impact of the broader Irish housing crisis, using a wide range of techniques including hand printed wallpaper motifs, CMYK screen-printing, looped moving image sequences, and soft sculptures.

Roisin will now avail of an award that includes complementary studio membership for one year, a small cash prize, hours of bespoke mentoring from printmakers of her choice both within & outside LP, and a materials budget to assist her in producing a small edition that will become part of LP' permanent archive.

As Roisin explains 'The Irish Housing Crisis is often discussed through statistics, politics and economics, but I approach the topic through lived experience.
Shared bedrooms, thin walls and constant movement become evidence of a broader issue, the loss of permanent space.
Young people in Ireland have to face the social embarrassment of never moving out of their childhood bedroom.
The idea of owning a house in Ireland feels like a distant dream rather than a future possibility.
I have created a series of tactile sculptures of houses to cope with navigating the overwhelming complexities of housing in Ireland.
I have chosen to centre my work around living in my childhood bedroom, a place that once provided a feeling of comfort and security but now fosters a sense of defeat and setback'

Limerick Printmakers looks forward to supporting Roisin as her artistic practice and career develops over the coming year.
