What’s in your graveyard?

🪦 🪦 🪦 🪦 🪦 🪦

Your TBR graveyard of course!

One of this weeks challenges for taking Booksta old school was to visit our graveyard of dusty books that have been haunting our dusty TBR shleves the longest.

❓ Tell me about a book that needs to be brought back to life and read or permanently laid to rest.

I read this right before the start of the World Cup games and as I was enjoying all the hype that the Scots brought to Boston. It was perfect timing for a love story with an MMC who is a pro soccer player. You Again is book four in Jen Atkinson‘s Just a Guy With a Goal series. While it can be read as a standalone, I’m glad I read the first three in order so that I could fully appreciate all the characters and the role roles they played in this book.

Zev, the MMC displayed unwavering commitment and loyalty, care and patience with Rosalie, the FMC. I had all the feels as I watched Rosalie experience life, self discovery and healing in the most authentic manner. This is such a special story.

All the side characters from the first three books, the friendships, the found family, and Rosalie‘s Grandma brought peak side character, energy! The funny elements and banter that Atkinson does so well were not missing in the story. I just love her writing!
I hope you read this book and I hope you go in blind because there’s a surprise that had me audibly, literally gasping!

QotD: I’ve told you mine, now you tell me your last five star read in the comments!

This past Monday night was bookclub at the beach! We reviewed our last book, Miss Benson’s Beetle, by Rachel Joyce and enjoyed some good discussion.

Watch the video to see how and what we picked to read next for the South Shore Women’s Bookclub.

Q: Are you in a bookclub and if so what do you enjoy most about it?
If not, what’s your CR?

Under Juniper Skies is my first book by @clairecainwriter and it won’t be my last! Thank you to Claire and @bookedwiththeemilys for the gifted audiobook ARC.

This small town romance gave me all the feels with great character depth and development, true to life challenges and emotions, and a family of side characters i plan to follow! The MMC, Grant, is everything you could want in an MMC, patient, loyal, caring and understanding. He has great chemistry with the FMC, Sam, who is strong, brave, and discovering who she wants to be and what/who she wants in her life. Sam is starting over in a new town and day one meets Grant, the grumpy sheriff. I’m now a big fan of a sheriff MMC. I hope you pick up this book, especially the audiobook with narration by Avery Caris and Jarman Day.

Tropes:
Single dad
Sheriff hero
Veteran hero
Woman on the run
Small town
Woman rebuilding her life
Man in uniform
Found family
Protective hero
