🚨FOUR DAYS until we launch our Clayground Campaign!🚨

Earlier this year, more than 70 community members came together to build the Birdhome, a 9-foot-tall sculpture made from nothing more than soil, sand, straw, and water. Through eight free workshops, participants learned how to make adobe bricks, stack earthen walls, and apply natural plasters.

Now we’re dreaming bigger!!

Our vision is to create a community-built Clayground: a one-of-a-kind earthen playground featuring climbable sculptures, imaginative play spaces, and hands-on learning opportunities, all built from the earth beneath our feet.

The best part? The Clayground will be free for families to enjoy at @tucsonvillagefarm , and we’ll continue offering free workshops that teach earthen building skills to our community.

On Tuesday, June 9, we’ll launch our fundraising campaign to help bring this vision to life. Every donation, share, and word of encouragement helps us move one step closer to creating a space where children can play, families can gather, and neighbors can build something beautiful together.

In a world that often feels disconnected, let’s get our hands dirty and create something lasting.
Mark your calendars. Four days to go.

We are not separate.

We are part of everything. We are the sky and the water. We are one another. When we let go and surrender we can reach true peace. This piece is about also protecting and honoring the life giving force of water. Weaving all life on this planet together, integral and sacred.
I’m grateful I am trusted to bring these images to the world. I know that these large scale art works are from not me but all of us. We are all part of everything. Not separate.

Swipe allll the way through to see the before.

I will be posting one more project tonight and tomorrow handing my password to a friend to run my account. I will always be creating and I want my attention to go to healing and helping. I love you and I hope you are finding joy and love in this chaotic world. In all of the sadness bringing beauty and understanding to the world is the most important thing we can do. taken in Steamboat Springs, Colorado by @lindeezimmer

Loving kindness practice-

Tonglen — tong (giving) and len (taking) — is a Tibetan compassion practice that inverts the ordinary direction of self-protection. On the in-breath, the practitioner takes in the suffering of others; on the out-breath, sends out relief, warmth, and whatever they have that is good.

It runs directly against instinct, which is the point. Every ordinary impulse is to take in the pleasant and expel the unpleasant, and tonglen trains the reverse until the reversal stops feeling like a sacrifice. by @lindeezimmer

Some glimpses from our very first adobe playhouse project!

@lindeezimmer and I had the pleasure of working with students at a preschool just outside of Marrakesh, Morrocco to build this dome playhome. It was built with and for the students - as a space for imagination, exploration, and play.

We know that community building in connection with the land is medicine, and want to keep this knowledge and skills accessible.

If you’re wanting to support programming that will share sustainable earthen architecture skills with youth, please head to the link in bio to learn more about the Clayground project we are currently raising funds to create at @tucsonvillagefarm this fall!

Thank you to all who have contributed in any capacity 🫶🫶🫶 We are so excited to begin the next phase of this work! by @lindeezimmer

Attention bird nerds and earth lovers,

Meet the Birdhome - she’s a 9ft tall made of soil, sand, straw and water.

Built through a series of 8 earthen building workshops, with 70+ participants. Located @tucsonvillagefarm. We taught adobe brick, stacking and plastering! We were awarded funds from the StArt Grant through @artsfoundtucson.

Inside the sculpture there are two bird houses, designed for Bewick Wren, Ash-throated flycatchers and Brown crested flycatchers, donated by @tucsonbirdalliance.

And guess what?! We are building a whole ….. Clayground, a community built earthen playground. The dream is to build an additional 8 sculptures, that can be climbed, explored and played on all made from soil, sand and straw. We will host workshops, for FREE, designed to teach earthen building techniques to the community.

We will be launching a GoFundMe, Tuesday, June 9th - mark your calendars! We need your support, share with friends and donate if you can.

We are in a time of deep isolation, so let’s build together, get dirty and remember what it feels like to be connected to each other and the land.
