@lisarooney.studio & I collaborated on this Adobe playhouse with lime/ clay wash, Morocco 2022, with the help of many big and tiny hands. This work is so powerful for the play and joy it brings. Deepest gratitude to @karinebenabadji & family for holding space for exploration.

For over 30 years, Tucson‘s All Souls Procession has brought people together to celebrate life while honoring the loved ones and ancestors that have left us. The ritual brings out the best in folks from all cultures and walks of life while the finale site hosts artists, alters, and performances that give attendees a chance to connect, play, and grieve with one another in a uniquely meaningful way.

In the moment where many of us are struggling to make sense of the world, it was a welcomed reminder that we are at our best when we walk beside one another in ceremony.

Many thanks to all those that stopped by to take a seat with me. It was truly an honor to hear some of your stories and bring my work into such a reverent space.

Here are some 5x7 tintypes made in our little guerrilla studio on the sidewalk at the finale site. They are some of my favorite that I’ve made to date.

We are not separate.

We are part of everything. We are the sky and the water. We are one another. When we let go and surrender we can reach true peace. This piece is about also protecting and honoring the life giving force of water. Weaving all life on this planet together, integral and sacred.
I’m grateful I am trusted to bring these images to the world. I know that these large scale art works are from not me but all of us. We are all part of everything. Not separate.

I will be posting one more project tonight and tomorrow handing my password to a friend to run my account. I will always be creating and I want my attention to go to healing and helping. I love you and I hope you are finding joy and love in this chaotic world. In all of the sadness bringing beauty and understanding to the world is the most important thing we can do.

the water carrier; they patiently collect water from the mountain, they are a conduit to deliver water else where. they are diligent to honor this life giving substance for us all. they nourish and share with the land and all living creatures of the desert.

Some final shots of this humbling project. Painting in the hottest place makes me hold reverence for water and question how frivolous it is used in such a dry place. Lawns are not for the desert.

Thank you to all the night creatures who shared space the crickets, cockroaches, scorpions and spiders.
