Last week I had the pleasure of celebrating the launch of The Matcha Maker Café, written by @lilychen_author aka Tania Tay and published by @panmacmillan

It was so great to meet the whole team behind the book and learn more about how it came to life ✨

It was a hot day but there were plenty of matcha themed refreshments and gorgeous bakes made by Tania, including these cute matcha and vanilla cupcakes 🧁

Thank you for having me! 🩷 taken in Mayfair London by @lindseyspinks

Happy Publication Day to The Matcha Maker Café!

It’s always such a thrill to see pencil marks brought to life and hold something in your hands that you’ve had a little part in helping to create. The process always feels a bit magical ✨

I had to make this (wobbly!) video to showcase the design details, it’s the first time my work has been used for sprayed edges, on this special edition how cute are the teeny croissant & matcha prints!? 🥐 Thank you to the team 💖

Last week ‘Just One Thing, Volume 2,’ was published and I was honoured to create the interior illustrations for the book. Inspired by the much loved BBC series, continuing the legacy of Dr Michael Mosley the second volume brings together 40 daily habits for better health ✨

I love the inspiring content for this book so it was a wonderful opportunity to illustrate lots of things that can bring joy and improve our health…Some of the illustrations shown here… Buy a veg box, Be Kind, Try turmeric, Read a poem…✨

✨Welcome to the world of... Lindsey Spinks✨

Working from her bright garden studio located just outside of London, Lindsey is highly experienced at bringing ideas to life through illustration✏️

Following traditional methods; every piece Lindsey creates begins with a hand-drawn pencil sketch before being refined, adding digital colour and layering with handmade textures. Her compositions are expressive and whimsical with a contemporary edge.

Drawing is Lindsey's passion and you’ll rarely find her without a sketchbook in hand, just look at that basket full💛

Her talent has shaped everything, from book covers and editorial features, to beautifully detailed food and drink illustrations. A special highlight being her cover illustrations for List Magazine.

For Lindsey, illustration is more than a profession, it’s a way of life. She’s all about finding that creative flow and letting it guide both her art and everyday life🎨

Interested in collaborating with Lindsey on a future project? We’d love to hear from you, so please get in touch☎️

And don’t forget to explore her portfolio to see more of her stunning work🔗

Illustrate a Book Cover with me ✨

Here’s a little behind the scenes of how I approach illustrating a book cover… First comes the brief, research and gathering inspiration, drawing sketches (I love a rough biro drawing!) adding whimsical details and embellishments, trialling colour versions and then final tweaks.

This is a cover I worked on for my @meiklejohn_ portfolio but the process whether for a speculative cover or a commission is the same ☺️

…As it is the National Year of Reading 2026 and we are being encouraged to make more time for reading, it is my hope that one of my illustrated covers might encourage someone to pick up a book, judged by its cover 😉
