Today marks the last day of WarHorse 2026 at The National Theatre.

It’s hard to sum up what this show has meant to me. WarHorse was my first professional job in 2013 and gave me a footing in this crazy industry. I had no idea the journey it would take me on and that it would be the start of 13 years and counting as an actor. To return to the show for its run at The National Theatre has been surreal but weirdly familiar. From puppeteering in the show in my first run to returning as Sergeant Fine and understudying some fantastic characters, I feel like I’ve experienced warhorse from all sides, and it has only deepened my respect for everybody who works on the show. It’s an absolute mammoth. I’ll take a lot away from this run but most importantly some epic old and new friendships. Warhorse is a gift, and hopefully one that keeps on giving.

P.S this is incredibly soppy for me. But with age I’m realising that sharing your feelings might just be a good thing. I could have said so much more but think I’d need to start a substack if that was the case.

‘What did you do on your day off?’ They said…
Rare trip to the track today with @georgie_ashford so I have video footage. In the process of desperately trying to prolong my track season until the last possible moment. #firsteverreel taken in Basingstoke and Mid Hants Athletic Club by @linford_johnson

‘We go through life playing many parts,
Unaware of when our future story starts.’

16 years of friendship later, far less hair and more weight gained and fluctuating sexuality. We are celebrating a beautiful wedding of Max Brown.
