Fall Break 2026 🍁 kicked off with Sam scoring a touchdown and a win!🏈
Lots of reading and audiobooks! Finished The Favorites in 3 days—I couldn’t put it down! The Calamity Club kept me company on drives to Downtown Big Baylor for medical appointments. Highly recommend CC📚 Sweet treats from friends 🍪💖 and more radiology consultations. Ready for this season to be over! ☢️

Annual vet visit for Willie, who is 14 and slowing down these days. 🐶

A trip to ATX to visit Mom! Bowling, arcade games, video games, and late nights for Sam and Jackson. Their friendship began in Kindergarten when Sam leaned over and asked Jackson how to spell the sightword “and.” 🎳🎮📝

Mom and I enjoyed the scenic drive from Bastrop State Park to Buescher State Park. 🌲 Along the way is an old MD Anderson research facility where Dr. Jim Allison conducted groundbreaking research that helped lead to immunotherapy. Forever grateful for scientific research and the doctors working to heal and cure cancer🏥💉

We stopped in Smithville at Comfort Café for dessert. 🍰☕ Love their donation-based concept, with proceeds supporting a nonprofit helping people in recovery. 🙏

Wrapped up the weekend at Scream Hollow—the SCARIEST haunted house I’ve ever experienced! Five houses of horror, creepy actors following you, and chainsaws revving behind you! 😱👻 Worth every penny! Frankenstein kept me company in the electric chair so nobody could sneak up behind me.

In April, I noticed a lump near my waist. Because I had Stage 1B melanoma in 2022, I had it checked right away. It was close to my original site and, unfortunately, was diagnosed as Stage 3 melanoma.

The past few months have been very difficult, including three rounds of immunotherapy. I’m sharing this in hopes it encourages even one person to notice changes in their skin—whether a new lump, an itchy mole, or anything that feels off—and get it checked.

My surgery to remove the tumor is Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. I’m deeply grateful for all the calls, texts, prayers, meals, gift cards, flowers, and cards in the mail. Your support has meant more than I can say.

Most of all, I’m praising God that, despite being Stage 3, the cancer has not spread to my organs. I’m walking into Tuesday surrounded by so much love and prayer. 🖤🙏 by @lisabesch
