June 19 is Jose Rizal’s 165th birthday. He remains the greatest and most revered Atenean.
What better way to mark it than to protest the shenanigans at the Ateneo?
And what better way to restore the dignity of the school he loved than for Ateneo high command to tender the resignations — or to be removed? by @lisagnakpil

After the majestic Bonifacio monument by Guillermo Tolentino, I like the GomBurZa next. Created for the centennial of the priests’ execution in 1972, it was designed by Solomon Saprid. I think dear ol’ Mom was head of the committee that selected the winning entry— more reason to like it even more! This is just the severe, modernist look she always adored.

Jose Rizal dedicated the Fili to the priests Gomez, Burgos and Zamora (known collectively as GomBurZa). Tomorrow is the day — 154 years ago — they met a slow, painful and unjust death at the Luneta, wrongfully accused of rebellion.
Here is the eloquent dedication that ensured Rizal’s own execution in the same killing fields. The injustice of it all inflamed an entire generation to rise up and build a republic — and that is why books matter. Jaime Ponce de Leon Blaise C. Gacoscos Kristian Sendon Cordero by @lisagnakpil
