Losing weight & feeling more tired? 😴

Ever noticed you’re moving a little less without really meaning to?

When you’re eating less, your body has less energy available, so you might naturally find yourself feeling more tired or less active throughout the day.

And that’s okay! 💚

Have you noticed this during your weight loss journey?

Crispy Chilli & Garlic Edamame 🌶️

If you fancy something crunchy between meals, try this.

These little roasted edamame beans are crispy, savoury, spicy and seriously moreish. They’re also a great way to get protein and fibre into a snack.

The secret to getting them really crispy? Dry the edamame well before cooking and don’t overcrowd your air fryer.

I add garlic, smoked paprika, chilli, sesame and fresh lime for loads of flavour.

Approx. per serving:

145 kcal | 10g protein | 5g fibre

A simple snack that actually has some staying power.

There’s something really interesting happening in GLP-1 research right now.

The conversation has moved beyond weight loss.

As these medicines are being studied for longer and in much larger groups of people, researchers are finding potential benefits across several areas of health.

We’re seeing evidence around:

• ❤️ Heart health – large clinical trials have shown reductions in major cardiovascular events in certain higher-risk groups.

• 🫘 Kidney health – newer research suggests semaglutide can reduce the risk of important kidney outcomes, including progression towards kidney failure, in people with cardio-kidney-metabolic disease.

• 🫀 Metabolic health – improvements in blood glucose, insulin resistance, blood pressure and other cardiometabolic risk factors are increasingly being reported.

• 🧬 Liver health – GLP-1-based treatments are being studied in metabolic liver disease, with trials showing improvements in liver inflammation and, in some groups, fibrosis.

• 😴 Sleep apnoea – obesity medicines are now being investigated for their effects on obstructive sleep apnoea, another condition strongly linked with metabolic health.

And this is where I think the conversation becomes much more interesting.

GLP-1 medicines aren’t simply about a number on the scales. They are changing the way researchers think about treating obesity and the wider health conditions that can accompany it.

For me, the really important question is:

How do we use this opportunity to build a healthier, stronger body while appetite is changing?

That means enough protein.
Plenty of fibre.
Nutrient-dense food.
Strength training.
Healthy fats.
And finding ways to make food enjoyable when you may not feel as hungry as you once did.

The research is evolving quickly, and there is still plenty we don’t know. But the picture emerging is certainly bigger than weight loss.

Why balance matters when you’re losing weight
If you’re losing weight in midlife, there’s something else you need to train, your balance.

If you’re losing weight, I don’t want you to focus only on the number on the scales.

As we get older, maintaining muscle, strength and balance becomes increasingly important.

So here’s a simple balance exercise you can do at home.

Stand tall next to something you can hold onto. Lift one foot and hold for 20–30 seconds.

Then change sides.

Too easy? Try turning your head slowly from side to side, or progress to doing it without holding on.

Aim for 2–3 rounds on each leg, 3–4 times a week.

Your goal isn’t just to weigh less. It’s to be strong, stable and confident in your body.

● 20–30 seconds each leg
● 2–3 rounds
● 3–4 × weekly
● Keep a support nearby
● Progress gradually
Important: Don’t do this with your eyes closed unless you’re appropriately supervised. Balance training should challenge you without putting you at unnecessary risk. by @lisamarleychef
