ā€œWhat does your wardrobe say about your spending priorities?ā€

Do you spend more on things you wear every day?
Do you save money for occasionwear?
Do you invest in coats and shoes?
Do you buy lots of inexpensive pieces because they're easy?
Are you actually wearing them?
Do you buy something because it's good value or because it's genuinely right for you?

ā€œThere is no right answer. That's the point.ā€

I'm not telling you what they should spend. I want to help you understand your own choices. You want choice, but you don't necessarily want more stuff. You want better, easier, more personal choices. by @lisatalbot1

Your wardrobe called. It would like a word.

Before you fall in love with the new season’s trends, buy another pair of boots or convince yourself you have absolutely nothing to wear… perhaps give the clothes you already own a little attention?

Because chances are, there are outfits hiding in your wardrobe that you haven’t worn, combinations you haven’t considered and pieces that just need styling a little differently.

And if there are gaps? Then we shop.

My approach has always been wardrobe first, gaps second. Not because I don’t love shopping (I do!), but because great personal style isn’t about having more clothes. It’s about making what you have work harder for you.

Less overwhelm. Fewer impulse buys. More outfits you love wearing.

Your wardrobe might be more useful than you think.

Ready to make your wardrobe work for you this season? Let’s talk about a Wardrobe Review.

We don’t always want or like a blazer…

So, I found you this great alternative, it’s new in @hm & was Ā£44.99, this is a size XS.

Today, I’ve created an easy to wear weekend outfit;

Flared jeans @mango
Ribbed knit @primark
Brown trainers @primark
Bag @primark

The ribbed knit, in my opinion is the best to be found on the high street, washes & tumble drys so well & at Ā£8.00 super value, available is lots of colours. I’m wearing a 2XS

Trainers are Primark because I find their size 3 is perfect for me & super comfy.

Mango jeans are cropped so fit my 5ft high so well as a full length, I’m wearing a size 8

And I only went into @thelexiconbracknell for @marksandspencer for tea!!!!!!! by @lisatalbot1

SHE DIDN'T JUST WALK INTO THE ROOM. SHE MADE AN IMPRESSION

My client recently had an event where she was presenting. We chose a purple jumpsuit, and I couldn't think of a better way for her to show up.

Not because purple is a bold colour, not because a jumpsuit is a statement piece, but because she could wear it and truly be herself.

When you're standing in front of a room, sharing your expertise, leading a conversation or presenting your ideas, what you wear becomes part of how you communicate.

Colour can catch the eye.
The right outfit can give you confidence.
And when what you're wearing feels like you, it allows your personality, presence and expertise to shine through.

This is what personal styling means to me, It's not about dressing to fit a mould, following rules or wearing what someone else thinks you should wear, It's about understanding who you are and finding the clothes that help you communicate that to the world.

Because you don't need to dress like someone else to make an impression.

You need to dress like yourself. Just with intention.

✨ What do you want people to feel when you walk into a room?

These are the wide leg @marksandspencer jeans.
I bought a size 8 Short (I’m 5ft & a size 8)

This is just one way to style them……

With the legs being wide I wanted to balance the look so chose the @cosinests scarf to visually draw the eye up, add a print & another texture.

Add a simple knit, a jacket & for me trainers but you can swap to boots, you can swap the jacket to a blazer…. Play with the outfit to suit you.

I will say these jeans are so comfortable by @lisatalbot1

Are we asking too much of the high street?

I’ve been thinking about the changing way women shop following the latest news from John Lewis.

Because I don’t think it’s simply about whether we prefer the high street or online, we actually want both.

We want the experience of going into a store, seeing the clothes, feeling the fabrics and trying things on. But we also want the convenience of being able to shop from home, check availability and find our size without spending hours searching.

And if we’re making the effort to go into a store, we want our size to actually be there.

For a busy woman, convenience has become part of value and I think there’s another shift happening too. We’re becoming much more selective about where we spend our money, it doesn't always mean buying high-end, it might mean investing in the coat you’ll wear for years.

Or spending more on underwear because it makes you feel good every single day, or buying something affordable because it does exactly what you need it to do.

There is no one right answer, and perhaps that’s the point.

Good style isn’t about following a formula or buying the most expensive things.
It’s about having the choice and knowing what is right for you.

That’s something I see time and time again when I work with women and their wardrobes, the answer isn’t always buy more.

Sometimes it’s simply make better choices with what you already have. by @lisatalbot1

What if you didn’t need a different outfit for every Christmas occasion?

A Christmas capsule wardrobe can take you from work party to Christmas lunch, client dinner to drinks with friends, without your wardrobe becoming a sea of sequins you’ll only wear once.

The secret is choosing a few pieces that work harder.
Think:
✨ One great dress that can be styled differently
✨ A beautiful blazer or jacket
✨ A pair of trousers that can go from polished to party
✨ A skirt or statement piece
✨ A couple of tops that change the look
✨ Shoes, jewellery and accessories that transform an outfit
✨ A little sparkle, without everything having to scream Christmas party

The result?
More outfits. Less shopping. Less ā€œI’ve got nothing to wear and importantly, your capsule should work for YOU, your lifestyle, your personality, your work, your social life and the occasions you actually have coming up, because a Christmas wardrobe doesn't need to be bigger, It just needs to work harder.

Want help creating your own Christmas capsule from what you already own?
