A place that somehow lives up to the hype. 🤍

Perched on Mackinac Island since 1887, the Victorian-style Grand Hotel has welcomed everyone without ever needing a single car on the island. Walking the famously long front porch, it’s easy to see why it feels frozen in time.

If you’ve seen Somewhere in Time, it was filmed here in 1979. The love story between Richard Collier and Elise McKenna made the hotel just as much of a character as the actors themselves, and yes, her character is my namesake!

A little history, a little Hollywood, and one of the prettiest places I’ve ever visited. ✨

A quick jaunt to Mackinac Island 🚲🐎

Our cabin for the week was 25 minutes from the ferry to Mackinac, so how could we not? The highlights:

• @sheplersferry to the island was quick and easy but Lake Huron is bumpy!
• Coffee and breakfast at @watercolormackinac
• Rented bikes to ride the full 8.2 mile loop around the island (and stopped to touch Lake Huron, of course)
• Climbed the 207 stairs from the bike path to see Arch Rock
• Explored and shopped around town
• Drinks on the porch of @grandhotelmichigan
• Lunch at The Jockey Club

The little island is famous for a multitude of events throughout history, and is now best-known for its fudge and being car-free since 1898 to protect the horses and the atmosphere. The next trip back will certainly be for a stay at the hotel!

There’s no way I’d rather kick off my next year than with great food, family and friends who feel like family. Some highlights:

- The gals at @sottocincy
- The always delicious charcuterie @ripplewinebar
- A morning sesh at @clubpilateshydepark
- A little birthday glam
- The short rib cappellacci at Sotto 🤤
- Being a fireworks nerd at our family 4th party

This being the best photo I took of my Derby makeup is why I could never be an actual influencer. 🫠

Nonetheless, I’ve linked all the products I used at both @sephora and @ultabeauty depending on where you like to shop on ShopMy.

The vast majority of this look is from @natashadenonabeauty and @charlottetilbury—two brands I default to for long-lasting, high-glam moments. (They were also key brands in my wedding makeup if that shows you how much trust I have in them!)

PSA: it’s never the overhaul, it’s the small things.

These are the tiny upgrades that made the biggest difference in my routine. Nothing crazy, just habits and swaps that actually stick.

An added layer of moisture, making sure all my makeup is *actually* off my face every night and giving my hair a little extra love while I sleep are all less than five minute steps with big impact.
