I’m so very grateful, humbled, and honored. I got to guide journaling as the closing event at the Los Feliz Writers Festival. It was the perfect sunset picnic and a sweet, connected ending.

Dogs, snacks, non-alc champagne, and beautiful people. I took people through an experience of journaling as relationship. What happens when we come into relationship with ourselves, each other, and the moment? We explored process, listening, and emergence.

We sat on blankets under the tremendous trees with golden light pouring through. So cool to sit on the ground of this hilltop meant to flow the benefits of art through the city.

I don’t get to teach in person often, and never in this area. This made it special and vulnerable. Everyone met me in the vulnerability.

In the workshops I attended in the festival, I loved getting to enter into the ways of others. I felt myself in different worlds. I felt different and found different words. Coming together with others is really cool—on a human level and also what it brings forward in the work.

I love that we made this festival together. It’s like playing with friends and making something cool. In the few days before, the festival got a lot of press (yay!!) so, people came in that we didn’t know before. Some heard about it on the radio!

Cheers to an incredible event and wild success in bringing people together!

Thank you to @drinklapos for drinks (I’ll post more about that soon), to @heavymannerslibrary for printing my semi-chaotic, non-linear handout (modeling how to free up the shape of the journaling.) Thank you to @with.willa and @samahralittle for your assistance. And, of course, thank you to @losfelizwriters and the incredible @literarypixie

Omg I have been LOVING “Shut up and write.” Thank you so much to @losfelizwriters @literarypixie and @alcovebigbar .

We check in and say what we are gonna work on, then write in silence for an hour, then share how it went.

Each week, I get so much done in that hour. It’s so supportive to be together with others in that energy and also get to have the silence.

Though I have a plan, I don’t have a goal. I have a number of things I’m working on, so u just jump around. Just do what comes.

Tonight, there was a lot in my body, so I started with journaling, then a bit of a letter. But then—when I moved on to a project—even though there was just 20 min remaining, it just flowed.

I also love getting to know people and their projects a bit. I love getting to be in community and feel the aliveness of creativity.

Cool things happen when we make them happen.
Thanks so much to @literarypixie for putting this together!
