I didn’t expect one book to completely change what I want to read next.
After reading Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir, I’m genuinely excited to explore more science fiction now . Not just for the space and science, but for how emotional it felt, the loneliness, the hope, and those unexpected connections that stayed with me long after I finished.

It made me realise how much I’ve been missing out on. Because there’s a whole universe of stories out there, and now I want to experience all of it.

If you’ve been putting off sci-fi, maybe this is your sign to finally pick one up. You might just fall in love with it. So that’s why I created a list of sci-fi books that are on my radar with few of them I’ve read in the past. I hope this helps. I’m still figuring out so I might’ve missed quite a lot of amazing books. So please feel free to add them to this list.

PS: Apologies for few errors that occurred. I realised that only after posting…

Dystopian fiction is one of my favourite genres and it never puts me in a reading slump. After reading Tender Is the Flesh by Agustina Bazterrica last year, I was completely pulled into this world of dark and unsettling stories. These books feel disturbing yet real and they stay with you long after you finish. They make you question everything in a way no other genre does.

So I have made a list for all of us to explore more of these powerful reads. If you enjoy intense and thought provoking books, this one is for you.

Part 2 coming soon.

(dystopian fiction books, best dystopian novels, dark fiction reads, books like tender is the flesh, must read dystopian, unsettling books, popular dystopian books, binge worthy reads, book recommendations)

Recently I’ve become a huge fan of memoirs, and Sardines on Cake was exactly the kind of book I wanted to read right now.

Anant’s journey from leaving his small-town life to trying different jobs, finding his way, facing failures and eventually building Babka in Goa felt so honest and real. I really enjoyed seeing all the little steps behind something that people now simply know and love.

What I loved the most was that this wasn’t a perfect ā€œI had a dream and made it happenā€ story. There were doubts, wrong turns, struggles and so many moments where starting over seemed like the only option (Honestly, I needed that reminder too).

And of course, there’s Goa, and lots of good throughout the story, which made me want to book a ticket immediately. After finishing this, I genuinely want to visit Babka myself!

If you love memoirs, food, travel, entrepreneurship and stories about starting again, definitely pick this one up.

(memoir, Goa, entrepreneurship, travel, starting over, personal journey, Babka Goa, Indian memoir, foodie reads, inspiring stories)

This book literally gave me that phoenix rising from the ashes feeling šŸ”„ I loved how it showed that one bad chapter doesn’t mean it’s over. Sometimes you just have to pick yourself up, spot the next opportunity and go again. Such an inspiring read!

Rightful Indignation is one of those books where you start reading thinking you’ll just read a few chapters, and then suddenly you’re completely invested. It became unputdownable for me because I genuinely wanted to know what would happen to Peter and how he was going to get out of everything that was happening to him.

Peter Frankel has built a successful business and a good life with his family, but everything starts falling apart when he becomes the target of people with power. His company, reputation, freedom and even his family’s safety are suddenly at risk (At one point I was literally thinking, how is he going to get out of this?).

I really liked that the story wasn’t only about business, corruption or legal trouble. We also get to see Peter as a father and someone who is trying to protect the people he loves while his own life is falling apart. His time hiding in the Dominican Republic added so much tension because you never really know what is going to happen next.

And knowing that this story is based on true events made certain parts hit even harder (You just keep thinking, this actually happened?).

Overall, I really enjoyed the suspense, the family aspect and the way the story keeps moving. It’s a story about power, injustice, resilience and having to fight for everything you’ve built.

So if you’re someone who likes stories with business, corruption, family, legal trouble, suspense and characters fighting against impossible situations, definitely pick this one up!

Thank you @rightfulindignation for this amazing reading experience

Before They Walk Away is one of those books that makes you stop and look at workplaces a little differently.

Being someone who has heard so many experiences from my friends about difficult managers, poor communication, burnout and unhealthy work environments, this book was honestly an eye-opener for me. It made me realise that people don’t always leave because they suddenly stop caring about their jobs. Sometimes, the system around them slowly pushes them to that decision.

What I really liked is how practical this book is. It doesn’t just say ā€œbe a better managerā€ and leave it there. It talks about leadership, trust, communication, HR systems, favoritism and the small problems that can eventually make good employees walk away.

I also loved how relatable the real-world examples felt. You’ll probably think of someone you know while reading this :(

This book is genuinely such a helpful read for managers, HR professionals, business owners and anyone who wants to understand why good employees leave.

Okay, this book was A LOT, but in the best way. I went into Shiva Rupaya Vishnave expecting historical fiction, but I definitely wasn’t expecting the story to take me through so many different people, places and time periods.

The beginning took me some time to get into (there are a LOT of names to remember), but once I understood the characters and where the story was going, I was completely invested.

I loved Ugra Narasimha. His journey, his intelligence and the way he handles everything around him made him one of my favourite characters. But Siddendra’s story was probably the one I felt more emotionally connected to. I loved everything around his dance, his relationships and his search for where he belongs.

Another thing I really enjoyed was how much South Indian history and culture we get throughout the book. There are kings, wars, temples, dance, different beliefs and so many little details that made me stop and actually look things up while reading (which I LOVE when historical fiction makes me do).

This definitely isn’t a book to rush through. Take your time with it because there is SO much happening.

And knowing we’re basically starting with the consequence and moving backwards towards the beginning??? I am very curious to see where this trilogy takes us.

(Shiva Rupaya Vishnave, S.S. Krishna Kiriti, Indian historical fiction, Indian mythology, Vijayanagara Empire, South Indian history, historical epic, mythology retelling, spiritual fiction, temple culture, Indian history, war and kingdoms, dance and culture, faith and power, immersive storytelling)

WOW. WOW. WOW. I honestly did not know what to expect from Legacy of Ash, but this was such a different thriller for me.

I really enjoyed the whole idea of mixing ancient occult knowledge with technology and AI (because how did we even get here??). Adrian was definitely one of my favourite parts of the story. I liked how logical he was and how he tried to find an explanation for everything, even when things started getting completely impossible to explain.

The story does take a little time to get going, but once the mystery starts opening up, I was fully invested. I especially enjoyed the questions around faith, free will and how much we actually understand about the world around us.

But the ENDING??? That actually put me on a chokehold. I finished it and immediately wanted to know what happens next and now I’ve to patiently wait for Part 2.

So this is definitely an unusual thriller with a really interesting mix of science, technology, occult mysteries and conspiracy. If you are someone who like books that take you somewhere you weren’t expecting, definitely give this one a try.

@brotherhoodpress please publish part 2 soon it’s a NEED!!

I was honestly not expecting this book to affect me this much. Bleeding Maroon broke my heart in ways I really wasn’t prepared for (I thought I was just picking up another emotional read, but okay 😭).

The story follows Maroon and Gwen, and I really loved watching their friendship develop. They both have so much going on in their lives, and as they get closer, they start seeing things about themselves and their relationships that they had been avoiding.

What I loved most was how real their choices felt. They don’t always make the right decisions, and sometimes I was literally sitting there thinking, ā€œPlease don’t do thisā€ (but at the same time, I understood why they did). That made me care about them even more.

There are some really difficult parts in this book, especially when it comes to abuse, mental health and homelessness. Knowing that the author drew from her own experiences made reading those parts even more difficult for me (It made the story feel even more personal).

I also loved how the book talks about knowing when to hold on and when to let go.

This was heartbreaking, messy and emotional, but I am really glad I read it.

Highly recommending this book to you all but please make sure you check the trigger warnings.
