On the latest episode of Love & Laughter with LittlePod, we got talking about hemp with @the_holistic_chef , and it turns out it’s a bit of an all-rounder. It grows well in our climate, it’s happy in average soil and it’s easy to grow. It’s also one of the best sources of complete plant-based protein you’ll find, with omega fats and plenty of minerals too. And it goes well beyond the kitchen. Hemp can be made into hempcrete, a building material you can actually build a house with. It can also be made into clothes that are really breathable and much kinder to the planet than fast fashion. While it’s in the ground, it pulls carbon out of the atmosphere and it’s good for biodiversity. There is a catch. Because of its link to cannabis, farmers currently have to register to grow it. There’s talk of the government making that easier, though, which could be good news for British farming. Would you give hemp a go, in your kitchen or your wardrobe? 🌱 Full episode is out now, link in bio. by @little_pod
What a day at the @delifresh_ltd Young Chef of the Year 🍽️ Eight of the UK’s most talented young chefs had three and a half hours to cook a starter, main and dessert, and every plate that came out of that kitchen looked incredible. Huge congratulations to all the finalists, and to Sophie Gray from North Seaburn, who took the title. So well deserved! We were part of the exhibition alongside around 80 fellow Delifresh suppliers, chatting to chefs and hospitality teams from all over. The chocolate and coffee extracts got plenty of curious looks (and a lot of sniffing), mostly because they’re not something many people had come across before. It was lovely to share the story behind our vanilla too, from how we source it to the orchard in Bali. Oh, and the vanilla shortbread went down a treat. Thank you to everyone who stopped by for a taste and a natter, and to the Delifresh team for having us. Swipe through for a few moments from the day. by @little_pod

Ever wondered why real vanilla gets a whole day of its own? Janet kicks off our International Real Vanilla Day episode by explaining exactly what the day is and why it matters so much to us, with our chef ambassador Peter Gorton alongside her. Spoiler: most of the “vanilla” out there has never been anywhere near a vanilla orchid. The full episode of Love & Laughter with LittlePod is out now 🎧 by @little_pod
Happy International Real Vanilla Day!! In our latest podcast episode, Janet set Peter a task to create some recipes using vanilla in unexpected ways 👀 This one is a Pumpkin and Vanilla Tart 🧡 This episode is available across all streaming platforms by @little_pod
Ad: Happy International Real Vanilla Day! 🌱🤍 I was gifted a beautiful box of @little_pod’s real vanilla pods and products and invited to create something special to celebrate. I decided on a decadent and colourful vanilla bun, made with freshly ground cardamom seeds in the dough, vanilla bean browned butter remonce and saffron & vanilla bean mascarpone cream, topped with vanilla bean poached quince as quince is in season and saffron will be in season very soon. Real vanilla comes from an orchid and can take up to five years from planting to become the fragrant pods we bake with. Choosing the real thing helps support the farming communities behind it. I’ve been using LittlePod’s real vanilla pods for years and am proud to support them and their Campaign for Real Vanilla, championing responsibly sourced vanilla, biodiversity and the communities who grow it. 💛 . . #littlePod #CampaignForRealVanilla #InternationalRealVanillaDay2026 #realvanilla #traceability by @little_pod
Ad: Take a look at these vanilla buns I made for #InternationalRealVanillaDay with some fantastic vanilla products I was gifted from @littlepod. They started International Real Vanilla Day in 2014, in Devon to celebrate real vanilla and say thank you to those farmers. It went international in 2020. These buns make use of their vanilla extract and vanilla bean paste, to give a real vanilla hit! #VanillaBuns #YeastedDough #teatime #IRVD26 by @little_pod
ad We’ve recently moved house and amid all the excitement and newness, I’m craving little notes of familiarity. The smell of our washing pods. My dusty cookbook collection, which has travelled from home to home with me for decades, stacked on a new shelf. Even my daughter’s signature brand of chaos which leaves no drawer or box behind and ensures toys are… everywhere. So you can imagine my delight when I opened a box of real vanilla goodies from @little_pod to mark #InternationalRealVanillaDay 🫶 vanilla is my ultimate comfort flavour in baking, and I couldn’t resist dusting off my favourite panna cotta recipe to roadtest this incredible vanilla in all its glory. This truly is the real deal and that’s no surprise really, as this vanilla comes from an orchid, grown by farming communities around the equator. It can take up to five years from planting to get the cured pods we bake with (most “vanilla” flavouring on supermarket shelves is artificial) and choosing the real thing supports the farmers who grow it. You can find my recipe for vanilla panna cotta with vanilla and honey roasted figs on my Substack now #IRVD26 by @little_pod
Ad | There is nothing boring about REAL vanilla. Derived from the seed pods of orchids and grown by farming communities around the equator, it can take up to 5 years from planting to harvest of the cured pods we cook with. REAL vanilla is labour intensive, making it the world’s second most expensive spice and that’s why I’m proud to support @little_pod ‘s International Real Vanilla Day and the farmers who grow it. I was very kindly gifted the LittlePod Luxury Gift Collection and used it in the most Emma-way I know how - breakfast! Vanilla poached pears with vanilla and strawberry granola. The pears were poached with an Indonesian vanilla pod, which packs a bold and earthy punch, and paired with granola sweetened with LittlePod honey and flavoured with their pure bourbon vanilla extract. Only REAL vanilla to see here… #InternationalRealVanillaDay #CampaignForRealVanilla #IRVD26 by @little_pod
