Confronting our fears as a union

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Yesterday we went to pay our rent together as a tenant association. We gave the manager a notice to give to the landlord informing the landlord that we won’t be paying the rent increase this year because he’s failed to carry out repairs inside of our units and outside the general structure. It’s been a long time coming but we’re finally at this point, and we’re ready for what lies ahead. We are the Jeffrey Villa and Twin Palms Tenant Association of Lennox California.

Yesterday we went to pay the rent together.
We got receipts in return and we were not charged late fees.
We delivered a letter to the manager to give to the landlord stating we will have a 5-day grace period to pay the rent without late fees.

We told the manager to tell the landlord we will not be paying the illegal rent increases we received.

Our manager has used verbal abuse against us and our children. He’s made classist and xenophobic insults at us, disrespected our families, attempted to humiliate us while ignoring our demands for repairs or carried out micky mouse ones.

On November 1st, 2022 we paid the rent together.
We noticed the manager to notice the landlord that come December 1st we would not pay the rent if we did not receive a rent recept in return.
Since then we’ve been receiving our rent receipts as the law requires.

We have faced retaliation for uniting as neighbors. The landlord has filed eviction actions against us for organizing and we have won.
Together we are strong.
We are the tenants of Jeffrey Villa and Twin Palms from Lennox Ca.

🏚This slumlord across the street from Sofi Stadium refuses to do our repairs - we’re going to make sure they get done. Support us at Inglewood Gardens by donating and/ or volunteering to the Repair and Deduct Campaign. We need your support financially or in person to volunteer a few hours for repairs. 👷🏽‍♂️

Skills and repairs needed: plumbing, painting, carpet installation, tub reglazing, & heating

Materials needed: carpet, paint & stove

The funds will be used to buy necessary materials for repairs🔥

Sharing from our comrades at HILL.
SHARE! Get ICE out of the LAX Westin. We don’t want them here practicing their role out of jurisdiction, not following protocol, violating civil rights, and creating unsafe environment for the community.

Call 310-216-5858. Stay on the line until you are automatically transferred to the front desk.

Read the following script:

Hello, I am a concerned community member. I know ICE is staying at your hotel. I do not want ICE in my community. Please ask them to check out.
