This was taken minutes before my friend @hannahtetlo and I spontaneously jumped naked into the the ice cold ocean in South Australia with nobody around. And this is really the way nature intended for us to swim!

Why linen?

Every time synthetic swimwear is worn, washed, and exposed to sun and saltwater, it can release tiny plastic fibres into our oceans. These microplastics don’t disappear. They end up in marine ecosystems, where they can harm coral reefs, fish, and the delicate balance of ocean life.

Coral reefs are already under pressure from warming oceans, pollution, and overfishing. Adding millions of plastic particles into their environment only makes survival harder.

There are studies where female and male dogs wore polyester (plastic) pants for extended periods…

Female dogs:
– experienced a significant drop in progesterone (a key fertility hormone)
– and didn’t conceive during the study

Male dogs:
– showed a significant decrease in sperm count
– higher rates of abnormal sperm
– and signs of testicular degeneration

This went on for months.

And when the polyester was removed?
Hormones normalised. Fertility returned.

Let that sink in.

I’m not here to fear-monger —
but I am here to question what we’ve normalised.

Because most bikinis today?
They’re made from plastic.
