After our AMAZING 🤩 "Get to Know You" discussion last night with @elaynaexotics ✅ about "body language" both the animal's and our own, I figured I would film an interaction from this morning that might be helpful to demonstrate what I'm thinking while I go through the process of working with an animal. In this particular case, a typically nervous green tree monitor.

As always, this is how my brain works, this is what makes sense to me. There are countless studies on behavior in general that support my strategies, but that does not mean what you're doing is wrong if it looks different and you're finding success with your animal. We are all travelers here and I learn from almost everybody I come in contact with 🥰

Every once in a while I hear things on podcasts, or in posts that don't sit right with me. Inspired people get shit done. Yes sometimes we are overzealous, but that usually turns into a learning experience that hopefully will adjust our path and can be shared with someone else in the future.

Be kind, Be humble, Be inspired because the only way to help yourself is to help others.

Ponyo and the rest of us at LLCrew want to wish you a very happy Friday 🔥
Don't underestimate the power of routine, especially in regards to animal care. Giving them something they can anticipate, rely on and doesn't cause them stress, is a foundational block they are wired to recognize. In the wild they would develop their own routines. In captivity we have the ability to do the same and use these opportunities for enrichment by making slight deviations, hiding things for them to find, letting them explore new things etc. By doing this you're creating an environment or scenario they are comfortable with in which you can manipulate to their benefit ✅

When I'm gone, the one thing I want anyone to say about me is how obvious it was that I loved animals. That's who I truly am, not a name, not someone's child.

I love learning from them, watching them grow, being there on their best day and their worst.

All of it is an absolute honor. ❤️☮️
