This past Wednesday evening, I finally saw my favorite local band @jumpropeband do their thing…opening for @tripdaisyofcl and pick up a long awaited copy of their no label record they have released. Which, by the way, pay attention big time record companies, they have a LINED INNER SLEEVE to put the record in. Also, one of the cheekiest titles ever, using a phrase we’ve all said “Hope the neighbors like _____”.

As they opened for Tripping Daisy, Jumprope killed it. They played just about everything on this release and blew me away. My favorite, a three piece unit with a drummer that hits like thunder. 💃🏻🔥

The coed vocals…gosh I’ve missed this sound — Think Pixies, think Vaselines, think Viva Voce. They are, as I so endearingly say, #punkasfuck .

Go to Bandcamp, buy this record. Stream them, whatever…just do yourself a favor and start listening. Check stories for more songs…chop-chop, kids.

Without argue, one of the best MTV Unplugged performances…Top 5, easy.
It is my pleasure to finally own this previously hard to find/afford, other than the DVD we own, on vinyl.

I remember watching this performance, as it aired. It seemed the end of a moment in time for me. We all knew the struggles and the pain of the band and Layne — this performance, to me, was the long kiss goodbye.

In 1991, there were not many bands that sounded like Hole. Now, every Hole record is completely different, and this is their first. It’s LOUD. It’s angry. It’s raw. It’s almost fatiguing at points. Honestly, it’s probably one of my favorite pieces of recorded music from the 90s. 🖤

This early lineup included Eric Erlandson on guitar, Jill Emery on bass, Caroline Rue on the drums, and of course Courtney Love. Who, like in some grunge fairytale, convinced Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth to produce this banshee of a record. The excitement upon announcing this record would be reissued, was more than electric. Now, if I could just get my hands on “My Body, The Hand Grenade” on vinyl, my Hole collection will be complete.

Good vibes, good music, college football. That’s what I’m bringing to the table this Saturday, kids.

There was a time in the late 70s, early to mid 1980s, when we went to roller rinks to roller skate or roller dance, as some called it. I remember hearing The Bellamy Brothers a lot. Make no mistake, this was serious entertainment, folks, and this song was always a favorite of mine. This greatest hits collection is a “no skipper” that I promise.

Peter Hook and the Light // White Oak Music Hall // September 10 2026

Never ever, ever miss a @peterhook_thelight show. 2 1/2 hours, no opening band. It was fckn amazing.
I am always left beaming from nostalgia and seeing him makes my little black heart smile.

It was a full circle moment when I looked back behind me and saw our 19 year old son, with eyes closed, head and body moving, singing every word…just like his Mama. Genetics are crazy @dylan_gawlik .

This was supposed to be my “end of summer” post. However, IG doesn’t have Don’s version of The Boys of Summer. (Only a live version from the Eagles) So, you just get the picture of the record. Yes, there’s Sunset Grill, yes there’s All She Wants To Do Is Dance, and those are good. But not Boys of Summer good, and that is my line in the sand.

While I would love to tell you how amazing and happy I am about this reissue, I’m here to rant a little. (Please exit now, if you don’t wanna hear it)

I have waited, a long time, for this reissue. A reissue of this record that *sounds* as beautiful and messy and melodic as the artist intended. And I will give it props on sound. They nailed it…that far off, in the distance radio transmission vibe, like the notes are coming from space. Sparklehorse (Mark Linkous) deserves that. And the additional 7” of “Wish You Were Here” with Thom Yorke is hauntingly brilliant.

What they didn’t nail was the presentation. They made this beautiful cover then put these gorgeous orange disks into PAPER FCKN SLEEVES. Not lined, not craft paper, not heavy weighted paper. Just plain white paper sleeves. The static on the physical record was that of a space transmission, ffs.
Also, some peanut head decided to put the 7” single inside the gatefold of the 12” album, then proceeded to put that into a single album mailer…in July. Warp city. 🙄😭 Lastly, the slip cover they so wonderfully provided us, is about 2 sizes too small when you factor in the stupid obi strip. It’s like putting on leather pants in the rain. 😣

I love this record. I wish the record and distribution companies loved music as much and put that love into the care of these reissues. @capitolrecords
