One last season 🥹

The past 11 years of being an ironwoman has been the greatest adventure and I’m excited to do it all one last time.

Our bodies are allowed to change. Change from year to year, season to season, and even day to day. Even the slight change in a camera angle or lighting can change the way we look in a photo.

At 16 I used to believe that if my body changed I wouldn’t perform as well, so I became resentful of it as I grew up. I used to look at an unflattering photo of myself and think, “I don’t look like an athlete here.”

I am so grateful that I now understand and accept that my body is allowed to change. It’s not easy, especially with social media, athlete stereotypes, head noise, and comments from others. I don’t love my body all the time. But I do know this: what my body looks like does not define my athletic ability or who I am. And an unflattering photo has never changed the fact that, for 11 years, I have been an elite athlete.

On the 3rd of September @kamanacommunity is hosting an online workshop with @tealevellaphysio - a sports and pelvic health physiotherapist. She’s here to normalise this conversation and teach why it’s such an important aspect of overall female athlete health.

I love sharing vulnerable stories but talking about the pelvic floor is something I’ve always felt embarrassed about. Sadly this shame and embarrassment prevented me from getting treatment as I thought this was something that could not be fixed. Turns out all I needed was the confidence to ask the right people for help.

This is a topic I wish I had been taught about as a girl. It would have helped so much with my training, and also saved me many tears. Learning about this topic has been a game changer for me and I hope this workshop will help others on this journey too.
