This time last year I was watching the book I’d hoped would mark a new chapter slowly dìe on submission ❤️‍🩹

I was doubting everything and wondering if I’d made a mistake in taking this step toward the unknown

It was as though I’d been separated into halves. One piece of me hungered with creative ambition— believed fiercely that my writing was something beautiful, that I shouldn’t give up on storytelling, that it would all be worth it someday

Another piece wondered if all I’d feared about myself as a writer was true: I wasn’t good enough, I’d missed my only chance, that it was too late for a new start

And somewhere in the heart of this moment, I found the inspiration for a new story. It swept me up and suddenly I was rediscovering all of the things I’d loved about writing. I felt the way I did when I wrote my first book, so many years ago ✨

It showed me that writing could be a joy, that my time as an author was meant for daydreams and inspiration, not for trying to please an algorithm or move a needle that I had no power to impact on my own

It brought me a new chapter in a way that I never expected, an actual dream come true

It’s been a strange and bittersweet journey but I am so excited for what is to come. So grateful to you all for being a part of this 🤍 by @lkclipstone

plan a - become a one woman content machine, devoting every waking thought to how to please the algorithm because what if this next viral post is the one thing that “moves the needle” (ugh) and finally gets your books in front of the readers you know will love them… except of course it doesn’t work and you’re burned out, grieving what might have been, and wondering who you are without a book to promote 🫠

so then you have a lil crash out as the kids say, spend a lot of time offline reconnecting with hobbies (I am v good at sourdough bread it turns out!) and playing Elden Ring until lo, an inspiration strikes for the most self-indulgent, silly, vibey, fun but also kinda deep romantasy book appears…

This is all I can share about it for now but I cannot wait to tell you more about my new chapter. And for all my author friends who are feeling so tired of the constant promotion/content/algo cycle— I see you 🤍 by @lkclipstone
