One for the del Toro fauns. 🌙

Be among the first to see the new 4K restoration of @panslabyrinth20 before its main UK release!

We’re celebrating 20 years of @gdtreal ’s dark fairy tale with a whole day at Picturehouse @ FACT, Liverpool, on Saturday 24 October.

12:30–16:30 | Dark Fairy Tales Talk/workshop
An afternoon exploring Pan’s Labyrinth, fantasy and del Toro’s filmmaking. We’ll get into the stories behind the monsters, why fairy tales can be so unsettling, and how the fantasy connects to Ofelia’s world. Plenty for writers and filmmakers to get stuck into, whether you’re working on something yourself or just love talking about films.

18:00 | Pan’s Labyrinth 4K preview + discussion
Ofelia’s world returns to the big screen in the new restoration, followed by an LMF-led discussion. There’s time between the workshop and screening to get some food, too. Just leave the Pale Man’s grapes alone. 🍇

Book either part or make a day of both — the workshop and screening are ticketed separately.

We’re teaming up with @goldiespizzashop for AFTER HOURS! 🍕

On Thursday 29 October, LMF Presents brings Martin Scorsese’s 1985 dark comedy to @picturehouse_fact for a night of New York cinema and pizza with our neighbours on Colquitt Street.

Griffin Dunne plays Paul Hackett, an office worker whose late-night trip to SoHo becomes an increasingly desperate attempt to get home. Every person he meets seems to make things worse. One for anyone who’s ever regretted saying, “I’ll just stay for one.”

We’ll be in the Picturehouse bar from 6 pm for Goldie’s pizza and a catch-up before heading into Screen 3 for the film at 7.30 pm. Afterwards, come around the corner to Goldie’s with us to carry on chatting about what on earth happened to Paul.

📅 Thursday 29 October 2026
📍 Picturehouse at FACT, Liverpool
🍕 From 6 pm in the bar
🎬 After Hours @ 7.30 pm, Screen 3

Tickets are on sale now through the link in our bio!

*Pizza and drinks are bought separately and aren’t included in your screening ticket.

Wake up, Donnie. We’ve made Halloween plans. 🐰

LMF Presents: Donnie Darko at 25

We’re spending Saturday 31 October at Picturehouse at FACT with Richard Kelly’s cult classic, getting into the world of Donnie Darko before seeing @arrowvideo theatrical cut restored in 4K on the big screen.

Our afternoon talk and workshop, Mad World: Donnie Darko and Cult Cinema, asks how a film becomes the one you keep making your friends watch. Through clips and discussion, we’ll explore the fan theories and late-night screenings that help films find a life beyond their first release, and how much a story should leave us to work out for ourselves.

Bring your theories. Especially the one your mates are sick of hearing. Film fans, writers and filmmakers are all welcome, with no project or previous film study needed.

Then, at 8pm, settle in for the 25th-anniversary 4K screening. That soundtrack deserves cinema speakers, and Frank deserves a much bigger screen to be unsettling on in 4K!

📍 @Picturehouse_FACT
🗓 Saturday 31st October
🐰 Mad World talk and workshop: 12.30pm–4.30pm
🎬 Donnie Darko 4K screening: 8pm

The workshop and screening are ticketed separately. Please note that the workshop contains spoilers.

Tickets via the link in our bio. Rabbit suits optional 🐇

If you’re inspired by @blackbearuk’s upcoming film Wicker, starring Olivia Colman as a woman who weaves herself a husband from wicker… boy do LMF have the workshop for you!

LMF Presents: Willow-Weaving for beginners, with Merseyside’s own Marie Louise Williams, coming direct from her studio in Oxton! @mariebuzzart will be guiding us to start our weaving journey with hanging baskets, decorative hearts and maybe even some willow fish if you have the time.

Most importantly, she’ll be giving us all the start we need to maybe, one day, make our own wicker husband.

All materials will be provided, and all you need to bring is yourself in some comfortable clothing. Bring your friends and join LMF in a celebration of @wickermovie!

Some find love, others make it.

Today on the LMF Journal, Michael James reviews Man with a Movie Camera, Dziga Vertov’s avant-garde experimental documentary that presents life in the Soviet Union in 1929.

Michael discusses how the film (often accoladed as ‘the greatest documentary ever made’) operates as “a doorway, enticing us into a nation that no longer exist”, and how now, in 2026, it can serve as a fascinating insight into how much the world of labour has evolved in 100 years.

One week on from LMF Presents: La La Land at 10! ✨

Thank you to everyone who came out for such a passionate celebration of Damien Chazelle’s masterpiece!

We couldn’t let Seb have all the fun! It was a joy to give jazz its own moment in the spotlight and celebrate the music that brings so much life to La La Land. Thank you for sharing our love for it 💙

We were also so pleased to screen @dansloanfilm ’s short film before the main feature. Local stories deserve that big screen too, and being able to show them alongside a film as loved as La La Land is something we’re excited to keep making space for. Thank you, Dan, for allowing your film to be part of the evening!

And of course, it was perfect to end the night with our Fools Who Dream post-screening discussion with @maddylloydjones and @_riostar; sharing our thoughts on the film and how it represents the creative pursuit of a dream. You were such an engaged audience and it was beautiful to be in a room where we all shared our love for this La La Land. That full discussion is available to read on our Letterboxd HQ!

A huge thank you, too, for sharing your own dreams with us — it was lovely to hear what you’re hoping to make happen. Here’s to the fools who dream!

Love,
The LMF Dreamers
