Just found this picture that I gave my father. Baton Rouge, Louisiana (1983) by my friend AJ Meek (sent as a large postcard). That was my second year using the 7x17, It’s my main camera…40+ years later, and still surprising me #loisconnerphotograghy #ultralargeformat #platinumprints # by @loistrueblue

Everywhere I went in New York when I was working on my Rooftop project, the World Trade Centers were my compass, my guide. They gave me a sense of scale and distance. I moved to New York just when they were finished, so they were also like home. I miss the towers and the peace we had. Posted in Memorandum for those that were lost, hurt and seriously affected by the pollutants over time. by @loistrueblue

From the shelves 🦢

TO BE by Lois Conner

www.anzenbergergallery-bookshop.com

This is a powerful meditation on pregnancy, transformation and the passage of time. Drawing inspiration from Renaissance altar paintings and the enduring image of the Venus of Willendorf, these intimate panoramic portraits explore the pregnant body as a space of fertility, vulnerability, hope and transformation.

Created slowly and collaboratively, the photographs celebrate the women behind these transformations and the fleeting nature of life itself. This is a deeply moving body of work about what is seen and unseen, and the extraordinary moment before birth.

“Chinese Voices on Palladio” is now open at the Qinghua Art Museum in Peking, China until 11 October. It includes 14 diptychs of my work, visually and intuitivrly comparing the work I made of Palladio’s architecture (the top images) to work I’ve made in China over the decades. The images are: Villa Chiericati and the entryway to the Qing Tombs, Beijing; Teatro Olimpico and the Longmen Grottoes, Luoyang, Henan; Villa Forni Cerato and the Songzhusi Ji Zhizhusi Temple, Beijing; Villa Badoer and Dongsi, Beijing; Villa Cornaro and One Museum Place, Shanghai. Ambassador Massimo Ambrosetti of the Italian Embassy in Peking speaking at the opening of the exhibition. I am so grateful to the Ambassador for inviting me to create this Palladio work in 2024-25. Giorgia Cestaro obtained access at the various Villas, Palaces, Churches and to the Teatro Olimpico and drove me all around the Verona countryside to the Villas. Her tireless energy, generosity and knowledge made this work possible. Here we are at the Italian Embassy celebrating the night before the opening. #tsinghuaartmuseum #loisconnerbeijing by @loistrueblue

“Chinese Voices on Palladio” opens at the Tsinghua Art Museum on the 10th of July. Honored to be exhibited with these important Chinese and Italian architects and Italian painters and photographers. My work is presented as diptychs with my Palladio images in conversation with some of my China work. In keeping with their announcement, these are a few larger versions of my Palladio pictures on the poster. #tsinghuaartmuseum #palladiomuseum #loisconner by @loistrueblue

Printing the Palladio book. On press for two days at Grafiche Antiga in Italy near Villa Maser. Working with Valentina from Treccani in Rome and the press experts. Intense, learned a lot. @fulandl hosted me in Vicenza and was on press part of the first day. And of course drove me both ways. The book is 12” x 9” a with 11 foldouts.on press you see the half frames of some of the photos, as when they are intricately folded, they come back together. #loisconnerphotograghy by @loistrueblue

This exhibition at the National Museum just finished a few days ago. So thrilled to have my work alongside the models, drawings, books and artifacts from the 16th C. of this incredible and influential architect. You can still see a few of my photographs up on the wall. Many of these photographs will be joined by other images of Palladiian Villas, Palaces and Churches from the Venato area that I made between 2024-2025 along with some of my China work (from the last 40 years). They will be presented as diptychs in the exhibition “Chinese Voices on Palladio” at the Tsinghua Museum”. It opens on 10 July in Beijing. #tsinghuaartmuseum #italianculturalinstitutebeijing #loisconnerphotograghy by @loistrueblue
