Brunch at Lola Cafe in Eagle Rock. The menu leans Oaxacan with California brunch favorites, and the coffee is worth trying. We had the café de olla, a traditional Mexican coffee with cinnamon and piloncillo, along with a lavender latte. Both were excellent.

For brunch, we kept it simple with avocado toast, a salmon Benedict, and chilaquiles with egg, mole and sour cream. The café was busy when we visited, with both indoor and outdoor seating. You order at the counter, grab a table, and the food is brought out. Not inexpensive, but a good neighborhood spot if you’re in the area.
